One intriguing part in a quote-heavy book is Meyer’s response as to how to approach the 2008 Georgia game, specifically addressing the Bulldogs picking up a much-hyped celebration penalty after their first touchdown in a 42-30 win last season: “That wasn’t right. It was a bad deal. And it will forever be in the mind of Urban Meyer and in the mind of our football team. … So we’ll handle it. And it’s going to be a big deal.”

You know a guy is serious when he refers to himself in the third person.

As long as Georgia’s not in their heads, or anything…

College football: random, but not boring.

There’s always something going on:

• He’ll rip your head off, Jack. I found a reference to what has to be the most intimidating nickname in D-1 football over at Bruce Feldman’s blog:  ladies and gentlemen, presenting 5’8″ Texas Tech wide receiver Eric “the Elf” Morris.
• Do ya’ think I’m sexy? Maybe not a good question for Notre Dame quarterbacks.  But Gene Chizik?  Des Moines must be one hot town.  At least pregame sex isn’t necessarily bad for you.
• Oxymoronic. Can a rivalry be lopsided?  Somehow I doubt Oklahoma fans view Iowa State as a rival.  No matter how sexy the coach may be…
