All aboard the Lane Train.

I wish Tennessee people would make up their minds.  On the one hand, his AD says Junior doesn’t know what he’s talking about when he claims to be firing assistants and laying off secretarial staff.  On the other, this guy says the Laner knows exactly what he’s doing.

Moreover, does anyone really believe that Southern Cal coach Pete Carroll would have made Kiffin his recruiting coordinator if he didn’t know the rules? He knows them well enough to know how to get around a few of them, which, sadly, is a huge key to winning at the BCS level.

Wow. Intentionally breaking the rules is a huge key to winning at the BCS level. I wonder what the NCAA would say about that.

I’m reminded of a saying: “Don’t let your mouth write a check your ass can’t cash.”

Methinks, the Lane Train is going to come up NSF.

Also, making Kiffin your Recruiting Coordinator is one thing. Making him a head coach is another. Being an RC doesn’t provide the same spotlight to blunder that being a head coach does.

Well, they bought Reggie Bush’s parents a house (allegedly), so yeah, I’d say Pete Carroll would name Kiffin recruiting coordinator regardless. Pete Carroll is the ultimate head in the sand coach when it comes to his program. He doesn’t see what everyone else does b/c he is intentionally looking away.

You know college football is king on campus when two coaches’ sagas (Kiffin at UT and Leach at TX Tech) dominate college sports news while college basketball is in the thick of their conference lineups & getting ready for the tourney – and nobody pays it much attention.

College basketball does not matter for another week or so. Wake me when it’s time to haphazardly fill out my bracket.

  6. HAHA, admittedly all the Lane stuff has been rough. And I posted that Lane ought to shut it over at 3SIB a couple weeks back.

Weidmer is the best writer in the TFP, which is my local paper … but I think he’s fantasizing just a tad much.
