Resorting to gimmickry in Columbia

There’s some lawsuit that’s been filed against the University of South Carolina involving “Cocky Cloth”.

The creators of the “Cocky Cloth” — those white towels USC students waved at the Gamecocks’ final three home football games last season — have sued the university for breach of contract, claiming officials reneged on the agreed-upon split on sales of the rally towels.

The details about the money are predictably boring, but I did find this comment interesting:

In an interview with The State in October, Wilder said he hoped to recoup his investment but did not view the “Cocky Cloths” as a money-making venture.

“It’s all about giving that stadium some kind of identity,” he said at the time. “People just sit on their hands in there.”

The bloom has definitely worn off the rose at Willie Brice.

Are sure that is a rose? I think it may just be a thorny bush.

I tend to disagree w/ that guy. The couple times I’ve been to W-B it’s been pretty raucous.

Yeah, I was just trying to be funny.

My uncle and his kids all went to columbia. We all get together each season for the game. They tell me the reason we give them, as fans, so much credit is due to scheduling. The fans are far happier in Spetember than they are in October and November.

Can someone remind me again why we let that po-dunk, do nothing school into the SEC?

What have they provided athletically or academically?

Arkansas has won 4 billion track titles, has the richest donors in the world and was home to the sitting president at the time of its inclusion.

Scu has nothing, has never had anything and never will have anything.

Why are they in the SEC? They just bring everyone else down.

Shoot, there needs to be somebody around the SEC that we can beat with some kind of regularity. Even Vandy is giving us all we can handle lately.
