Tuesday morning buffet

Rise and shine, campers.

  • Fred Gibson, NFL draft case study.
  • Stewart Mandel notes one result of conference expansion, should it ever occur:  “… it stands to reason that a consolidation of power would only further allow the current BCS powers to retain the status quo…”
  • Auburn doubles down on Tiger Prowl.
  • Mike Slive on expansion and his conference – greed is good, but just in case…
  • Spencer Hall asks the big question about the Logan Gray transfer speculation.
  • This just in:  John Feinstein thinks Jim Delany “sucks”.
  • So how talented is Boise State really?  “The Broncos had one selection, cornerback Kyle Wilson in the first round. He is the school’s only draftee in the past two years.”
  • If you want to play in a BCS game, make sure you have an experienced starting quarterback.

Rumor has it that Hutson Mason has been given strict orders to start practicing his fair catch signal over the summer.

Feinstein is the anti-thesis of Lewis Grizzard, I only disagreed with one thing Lewis ever wrote (anti-cheerleader at CFB games rant), and now I have agreed once with Feinstein. Delany is an evil, self-obsessed man who will mow down anything that gets in the way of his objective…the Hitler of CFB..

Interestingly while reading the article, I disagreed entirely with his take on Loreno’s retirement and the LPGA. I had to laugh when he blasted Delany about stomping on traditions; this from the guy who roasted the Masters, and the people who run it.

“Auburn doubles down on Tiger Prowl.”

What happens when you take a bus and give it to Auburn football recruiting (NSFW, Starbuxx, or Dunkin Doghnutz),

It was easy for Auburn to find a qualified driver for the bus too, even though some outside the Heart of Dixie may disagree…

Fred Gibson….meet Reshad Jones. Both great athletes that think (thought) everything was just going to get get handed to them.

The article comparing Canty and Gibson is pretty slanted. Some guys just don’t make it in the NFL for dozens of good reasons. Why make Fred out to be some kind of slacker? He’s not Ryan Leaf or Lawrence Phillips. Apparently, Fred has saved some of the limited NFL money he received, and he’s finishing his degree after giving the NFL a fair shot. I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t have pride he played for the Dawgs and is moving ahead in a positive way with his life. Canty made it in the NFL – fine for him. But don’t trash Fred for not making it.

Well said JC. I’m proud of Freddy for getting his degree. Sure beats driving a forklift somehwere for $10/hr. Sad situation where the oft coddled black athlete finds himself having to look for “real work” after being an athlete his entire life. I have a much higher regard for Fred than Reshad regarding his contributions to the Team, although age dims the memory. I wish Fred & Reshad all the best for their future endeavors!

The Tiger Prowl crossed the state line today while visiting Columbus. They’ll be making a stop in Athens by 2012 (probably in some kind of hovercraft by then).

Oh Fred….so much talent….so little guys going across the middle

I hate that Fred never truly made it in the NFL but very proud that he is a Dawg that is getting his degree and was smart enough to save the money he did make. DGD.
As for the bus I wish I had known it was in Columbus today, could have given it a better paint job while it was here!
