My first thought after watching the end of the Kentucky-South Carolina game was, “oh, crap, I’ve got to put together a power poll ballot now”. The 2010 season looks like 2007 on steroids.
- LSU. Saturday, we’ll find out which is the most powerful force in the SEC: Cam Newton’s legs or Les Miles’ karma.
- Auburn. Maybe it’s just me, but “65-43” isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you say “SEC Champion”.
- Alabama. Ole Miss turned out to be more of a grind than the seal clubbing many expected, but this team is still formidable.
- Arkansas. Huge gap between three and four. It’s hard to beat Cam Newton and Penn Wagers.
- Mississippi State. Dan Mullen wishes he could move his team to the SEC East. MSU is doing the more with less thing better than any team in the conference.
- South Carolina. Lattimore injury or not, élite SEC teams don’t blow games against Kentucky like that. And November still awaits.
- Florida. Seriously, Gators, how do you lose a game to a team that wasn’t even trying to score in the second half?
- Georgia. Rounding into shape after a 1-4 start. Still a long way to go, though.
- Kentucky. Resilient bunch, as the last two weeks have shown. Couldn’t quite move them ahead of Georgia, though, as I suspect that South Carolina wouldn’t have fared so well if Lattimore had missed half of that game, too.
- Mississippi. I have to put them somewhere.
- Tennessee. Let’s give it up for the bye week, folks!
- Vanderbilt. Unfortunately for the Commodores, there are no MAC teams left on the schedule.
Get The Picture 
Apparently, Mullen was to Meyer as Cutcliffe was to Fulmer. I too, think Mullen is doing more with less at Miss State than Cutcliffe was able to do at Ole Miss. Nice to have a Manning kid to carry you. Still, it underscores the importance for HC’s to have good assistants around them. I think Donnan slipped after his original assistants bolted for more benjamins in the bank. There also seems to be an improvement affect that heightens a college teams productivity when a new coach and staff is hired. It seems to taper in 3 to 5 years. Meyer lost a lot of talent to the NFL and a DC and OC to boot. Also, there was that bad case of heartburn. Probably, sucking down antacids faster than kudzu now.

How can you have Kentucky behind us? They beat us last year, we’ve proven this year we are perfectly capable of losing any game on our schedule, and they actually beat SC last weekend. Saturday’s game scares me to death too.

Their defense hasn’t held an SEC opponent to fewer than 28 points. They’re 1-3 in the conference, with the lone win being a game they probably should have lost. They gave up 48 points to Florida for Chrissakes. They are good enough offensively to beat this Georgia team if they play like they did during the losing streak, but I’m hoping the last two games indicate that Georgia’s turned the corner.

I hope you guys are right but this game feels like a trap game to me (as much as you can have a trap game when you have a losing record). All of this sudden talk about winning the east is just the (over) confidence we need to lay an egg against these guys.
I’ll admit I haven’t watch UK much this year – just Saturday.

Blutarsky…I was at the AU-ARKY game, and that Penn Wagers crap cuts both ways. His crew set up an Arkansas TD (with a bogus PI penalty on AU) on the posession before the Fannin fumble on the goal line. I told the folks next to me when the Wagers crew huddled up, “this is gonna go AU’s way, he’s gotta make up for that awful pass interference penalty on Washington.” And he did. Wagers crew was lost the entire game…as Jed Clampett used to say, “pitiful, just pitiful…”

You’re right about the PI call, but the two biggest calls of the game were about the fumbles, and those both went AU’s way.
Don’t get me wrong – AU was the better team and deserved to win. But Arky fans have a right to be pissed off about the refs, too.

I think that Auburn should be number one. LSU has yet to show an offensive sign of life. LSU playing Auburn is like a guy bring a knife to a gun fight.
