The NCAA: making it up as they go along

The NCAA may not be world beaters when it comes to investigations, but they sure have this whole thin-skinned thing down pat (h/t Dennis Dodd).

Baylor University’s criticism of the NCAA for its reinstatement decision regarding men’s basketball student-athlete Perry Jones is off base, related to timing, process and precedent.

That they resort to arrogant sniping like this is, of course, entirely their fault.  Their constituent members want some sort of consistency in how the rules and regs are applied.  But that’s not how Mark Emmert’s bunch roll:  “Regarding comparisons to other cases, each situation is different and has a different set of facts.”

It’s a dartboard approach to enforcement.  And nobody gets to watch when the darts are thrown.

To quote my friend Kenny Croy, The NCAA is a bunch of booger eating morons. Be prepared for some heavy bullshit when they make their rulings on OSU and others.

I love how you often work Talking Heads quotes into your titles.

  3. They need to get rotten eggs on themselves so they can know who they are

“Regarding comparisons to other cases, each situation is different and has a different set of facts.”

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.”

The thing the NCAA has to worry about is they are pissing off their members at an alarming rate. Keep it up and the ship will hit the sand.

+1. The NCAA emphasizes weak-assed minor horsesh!t like a couple of ex-players attending a recruit’s news conference but totally ignores the serious stuff like the Auburn/Cam Newton mess. The NCAA acted as if it did NOT want to find out what was really going on on the Plains. Same for Mike Slime..er..Slive.
