These Big Ten people need to take a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror. Ohio State in the last several years has given us not just Tressel, but also Maurice Clarett. Michigan’s given us a scandal or two from the Rich Rod regime. Just yesterday, I was reading the story of the Bruce Pearl-Iowa-Illinois recruiting scandal. It’s not like you’re above the fray, Big Ten, you’ve just somehow escaped notice.
Kirk Ferentz, coach of what would be defined as a SEC Wild Wild West outlaw program were it in tSEC, is fortunate that he coaches in a Big 10 remote outpost that doesn’t get much media attention.
Kirk is nowhere to be found when players don’t finish the drill:
“Not only did Ohio State president Gordon “foot in mouth” Gee and athletic director Gene Smith know that Tressel tried to cover up a violation, not only did they know he lied repeatedly…”
Gordon knows that he, Gene and Jim are in a tight spot when it comes to public speaking. Being an amateur stand-up comedian, Gordon reaches out to a professional for advice and is told that the only thing that can save them is Mike Tyson.
I wouldn’t say The aU has higher standards since they have none at all. Perhaps tOSU and the Barners could call Cuban to be a nucleus for his minor-league football start up. They clearly don’t like the rules the NCAA has, although they have to love the ineptness in enforcement.
The NCAA is acting like an ostridge in this case. If we ignore it maybe it will go away or the media will treat it like it treats other train wrecks they will grow tired of it. The only thing the NCAA is hoping is that Yahoo Sports does dig any deeper
And what the hell is taking the NCAA so long to investigate?? Could this be anymore cut & dry?

Don’t forget about Iowa players collapsing in the weight room, and didn’t a couple others get tossed out of school?!

On the other hand, Kirk acts quickly when he becomes highly disappointed:
“Coach Kirk Ferentz acted quickly when news of Johnson-Koulianos’ arrest reached him.
“I am highly disappointed to learn of the charges,” Ferentz said in a statement. “Derrell has been suspended from all team activities.”

Even the SEC has higher standards?! Seems to me THE morally right OSU, had to cheat to finally win a BCS bowl!
