Christian Ponder at #12 an even bigger “WTF” moment not to mention as a close 2nd as the Falcons give up 2 #1 picks and a 2nd for Julio “The Predator” Jones. Jon Gruden is the Paula Abdul of the NFL. He loves everyone.
You know what don’t hate on this pick. Of course we all would have loved seeing A.J. in the red and black some more. While I will always be an A.J. guy, I am krunk at getting Julio. Now if the Falcons will just draft K. Durham sometime late, oh what a set of recievers we would have.
FWIW, Carpenter signed with Iowa St. out of Hepzibah, GA, high school, did not qualify and went to Coffeyville JC. He was recruited out of there by Bama, Mississippi, Oklahoma and TxT among others, not including UGA.
He immediately came into Tuscaloosa and took over the starting role departed by Andre Smith and started 27 consecutive games.
The offensive linemen that UGA signed in the 2009 class are Austin Long, Dallas Lee and Chris Burnette, none of whom have made any appreciable impact.
I would like to see the falcons pick up Akeem Dent. I’d also like to see the Bengals take Ryan Mallet, Houston go somewhere in the 2nd round, Clint Boling go to Detroit, and if possible for the Falcons to take Durham
Before we traded away the whole draft, I was hoping for Atlanta to take Boling in the 3rd.
Now I’m just nervous about where the Falcons will find a pass rushing defensive end and a nickelback – probably the two most glaring problems on the team.
“I hope they would have the same commitment every year,” Richt said. “But they are human and they’re going to be hearing about it and thinking about it all year and they know that we can’t wait ‘til midseason to be in midseason form. We’ve got to be there Game One. So that means you’ve got to be prepared.” -- AJ-C, 5/7/13
Carpenter can now afford to pay a production studio to edit Saban’s reaction to look like he knew it was coming.

Except they didn’t give up two number 1′s. They exchanged this year’s first pick for a higher one.
Why do 47,000 people on the internet not grasp this?
Uh………….
The Atlanta Falcons gave up 2011 and 2012 first round picks, a 2011 second round pick and both 2011 and 2012 fourth round picks.
They gave up a 2011 1st round pick, yes, the #27, but they got the 6th pick in the 1st round.
So, they simply exchanged 1st round picks. It is not as if they suddenly yielded their 2011 1st round pick. They simply moved up 21 positions.
Over/Under on Pete Carrol’s tenure in Seattle?

We are going to get them in free agency, and yes we will have free agency, just who knows when.
Coons need a CB to go along with Robinson bad. To me that’s the greatest need.
Hodgie meet Brent Grimes, pro bowl cornerback.
