The well of inspiration must be pretty dry in Fayetteville if they’re excited about this as a rallying cry.
Admittedly, it’s not like they’ve got a wealth of opportunities to draw from.
“It was such a unique phrase it really just stood out amongst all the quotes (Petrino) has had throughout a season,” Pracht said.
Yeah, if there’s one thing I associate with Bobby Petrino, it’s memorable catch phrases.
We didn’t come to paint? What the hell does that mean?
Others elsewhere are asking that same question:
Mizzou 415:
“We didn’t come to paint” What the **** does that even mean?
Hogssmellgood:
“I think its a saying him and John L. Smith had when he was at Louisville. In other words, he didn’t show up to dick around and kick a field goal (in that situation), he was going to put the game away.”
Forty Acres:
“You will never see a team paint harder than we will the rest of the season”
-Jesus
http://www.shaggybevo.com/board/showthread.php/93994-quot-We-Didn-t-Come-To-Paint-quot
That is one dumb catchphrase. I guess you’ll latch onto anything when you’ve got nothing already. Pitiful.
Would any weird non sequitur have done, or does painting hold a special place of honor for Arkansans?
He could have had one trademarked when he was the Falcons coach as well, ” We didn’t come here to stay long enough to watch the paint dry”
we have a winner
We would have painted the house, but we did not like the color of paint we ended up with, and the paints are a bunch of cry babies, who don’t like to be yelled at like children..
It makes perfect sense to me. When you’re only renting, they make you pay extra if you’ve painted the walls.
+100.
And you know, it’s the kind of thing that lends itself to a little variety. Next year it can be “We didn’t come here to grout,” 2013 can be “We didn’t come here to install hardwood floors,” etc. etc. etc. . . .
Nick Saban doesn’t have time to paint.
But….roll tide?
“We came here to kick ass and paint your stadium, and we’re all out of paint.” – Rowdy Roddy Petrino
Awesome. Well done sir.
I hate it when corporate stooges try to trademark everything, like they want ME to PAY everytime I use a phra…wait, what? Huh?…
…oh. You can HAVE that stupid phrase!
/of course the electrical and plumbers unions might get pissed.
Kinda made me recall:
Harass them, harass them, make them relinquish the ball!
Rah, Rah, Ree. Kick’um in the knee! Rah, Rah, Rass. Kick’um in the other knee!
Then there’s the Fl A&M Rattlesnake’s cheer:
“Strike them! Strike them! Put the venom in’em!
So should UGA trademark “Finish the paint”?
Petrino needs to lay off the John Grisham books……
Also trademarked by Arkansas’ Track and Field team, “We didn’t come here to pant”.
How’d y’all like the last 4 minutes of the game vs. the Razorbacks last year? We thought it was pretty fun.
Mr. Murray, may I introduce you to Mr. Bequette? You won’t be needing that helmet the rest of the day.
Mr. Williams, meet Mr. Childs. Go ahead and turn in your jockstrap. You’re done with it for the day.
Way to bring the paint, Hog fan.
Dude paint messin’ around.
We just gotta brush it off.
No wonder their stadium looks so nice, the players have spent so many of their games painting it.
Pigs are filthy animals. I don’t eat filthy animals.
But bacon tastes good, pork chops taste good…
Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie,
But I’d never know ’cause I wouldn’t eat the filthy motherf******. Pigs sleep and root in sh**. that’s a filthy animal.
I don’t eat nothin’ that ain’t got sense enough to disregard its own feces.
Pigs taste great when you have the munchies from smoking pot.
Yeah, but you’re eatin’em raw.
I wonder if your tune would be different if UGA had a helmet to helmet to Ark and we won the game?
That is the first one you have won in quite some time. I enjoyed the SEC championship game between the Dawgs and hoggs myself. Not nearly as close though as the most recent one “tween the hedges”…. “even a blind pig will find an acorn.”
just sayin’
Seriously, their Sugar Bowl bound team managed to squeeze one out against our first losing team in over a decade on two UGA self inflicted gaffes and he’s proud enough to talk smack. Then again, when I looked up their alltime record against us (4-9) and realized we’d won the last 6 prior to 2010 and they hadn’t beaten us in almost 20 years, I felt a touch of sympathy. Woo paint sooie.
How’d you like Joe Cox having a career night of 375 yards & 5 TDs in 2009? Were y’all painting or not that night?
Wal-Mart greeters are usually much more polite than this.
Get it? Because Wal-Mart’s the only decent thing to come out of Arkansas. Besides the timeless classic “Legend of Boggy Creek 2″.
Speaking of decent things to come out of Arkansas, I like the phrase. I said the same thing to Monica in the Oval Office.
Hey, you’ve got to live it up when you win one. Keep them coming.
I hope the Razorbacks love Petrino, they deserve each other. SOOOOIEEEE!
If he had come to paint, did he plan to use an oil base or water base.
But speaking of painting, watching the Dawgs in that last bowl was like watching paint dry.
And maybe the Redcoats can strike some sounds of “Paint It Black”.
And in the move, For the Love of the Game, Paint it Black went good with getting those pitches on the outside of the plate in the strike zone. Something the Diamond Dawgs will do more of in 2012.
Do the Dawgs use a set-up similar to the Braves on their diamond and even Sanford?
Surpised they received a TM considering their competition now…Glidden, Behr, Pittsburg, Valspar.
And if they do go their to paint, get their butts handed to them, will the Hawgs “prep” the site a little better the next go around.
Do they use Linzer or Purdy brushes. Sprayers? Rollers?
Amazing how football can roll into intangible assets and construction!
Now what about their damn football team? Surely, their SID and AD are much into Martha Stewart Living.
Watch it Will. That paint thinner’s working it’s pogroms on your innerds .
Can we give them to the Big 12? Seriously?
I’d take Climpson or Flaw State any day over these clods.
Besides the Lord God Bird, the whole state is forgettable.
You obviously haven’t been to the northwestern part of that stste if you say that. Your remark was like an Arkie saying all of Georgia looks like the Okeefenokee. Most of their natural wonders are center to northern part. And they are doosies! Buffalo River Basin, great fishing impoundments that have trout-filled waters downstream. Mountains that compare to the Smokies. Duck hunting in Stuttgart. You should go there to visit. Much of their natural beauty is near Fayettville.
When I attended UGA, I took an Ornithology class. A reported bird and nesting site was reported on the Altamaha and down near the Fl border. I keep Audubon’s Ivory Bill painting from nature on the same wall as a Jack Davis.
It may help for people to look in front of the boat ( when pointed at the uninteresting trees) for movement, then play back to see the white stripes delineating the bird against the black-grey backdrop. It’s a great sighting and one that fills us with hope. Much like a win over Boise St will make us feel.
I’m not saying all of AK looks like a swamp
I’m saying that spotting the most treasured American bird is the only exemplary thing they got going at the moment.
That and Matt Jones’ bong collection.
Oh yeah @Will Trane
What about basketball. Feb 2nd this year we washed those walls with acetone to get the paint off. Yeah!!!!!! We win 60-59. The Lady Dawgs also took that same paint thinner to the walls TWICE… Oh yeah!!!!!! How Bout That…. Don’t let your paint dry!!!!!!
The brush strokes seem to fail when it comes to the GymDogs, Soccer, Tennis, Golf and Softball. We painted your town black the whole year. Even in vaunted Track and Field we ruined your masterpiece. How do you like that. Oh yeah….better stick with what you guys do best… Play left handed pocket pool with those Hogs !!!!!!!
Sorry, for the lame stuff but had to reply to the lame trash talk with even more lame trash talk. You know I could not be out done but some honky-tonk white guy. If you don’t understand the left-handed hog thing then see here http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Special:Contributions&target=ip:ID2720574533
Aren’t high dollar paint brushes made out of hog hair?
I know cheap low class shaving brushes are.
