Here’s a pretty good trivia question for you: can you name the only two Georgia quarterbacks of the Mark Richt era who didn’t redshirt as freshmen?

I knew that.
Rambo is not starting. He is now running second.
If Samuel can run with some toughness, you’ve got a 272 lb fullback leading a 243 lb tailback. That could be a hot mess for Boise State to have to defend 20-25 times a game.
But will the “balanced” Bobo run this? If Samuel hits the line on his first 3 carries and….um…say, loses his feet….will he keep the coaches confidence?
Only way one back is getting 20 carries is we find we can rip 7+ yards per carry, or are up 21 by the 2nd Q. Love to see both, doubt it will happen. Murray throwing for 300 yards is more likely.
Grind the Smurfs into the turf of the dome. BSU lives and dies on their quickness, so you have to run right at them over and over. No smart a$$ wide stuff until they have 8 in the box tight. Rip them up the gut until they just give up.
+1.
I haven’t look at anyone’s answers. Stafford and Mason.
Yep.
Shockley….I think he played as a true freshman but I’m going on memory only.
Nope. Shockley was red-shirted. See Wikipedia.
What about QC?
Didn’t play for Richt.
You’re right.
Fabian Walker and Corey Phillips?
Corey was a tough little qb. Donnan never really liked him though. I thought he was a rock against Kentucky. Stood in the pocket and delivered and got smacked most of that game.
I have often wondered how well UGA would have done if Corey Phillips were the QB instead of QC. Not as flashy but wouldn’t have laid the ball on the ground or thrown it to the other team as much either. Rule #1 for having a winning football team: Don’t have a QB that beats you himself. P.S. Corey doesn’t like Donnan much either.
Wait a minute … didn’t Murray redshirt? I seem to recall all the screams of “put Murray in and let him learn under fire” during Joe Cox’s senior (and only starting) season. And Murray never went in a game that year, right?
“Didn’t Redshirt” … got it. My mistake …
I thought Greene was the first one. Missed both of them since I was thinking “starting” QB.
How about the coaches putting up Richt as supplying most to the NFL in the last 10yrs. That has to be terrific to put under recruits’s noses.
Yeah, the NFL will probably put up a statue of him in Canton: “Supplier Of Most Players To The League.” Since he has all these NFL caliber players it would be nice of him to supply a BCSNC Trophy or two to his team, university, students, alumni and fans don’t ya think?
