      In Central Georgia today… Yesterday’s rain has moved out..Morning breaks as bright as a new penny ! The sunshine is perfect, the air cool, nice fall windgusts are softly drying the colorful sweetgums, hickorys and maples.
      I hope it’s an omen.

    You both consider yourselves in a much happier place — I woke to the spectacle of a sky filled with snowflakes (BIG/Thick ones). And I may just be forced to shovel at some point.

    As to the Party, I do believe J.Brantley to be a block of salt in the pocket, highly vulnerable. Though if we intend to force the issue straight through the Guard/Center gaps that could leave the Dawgs exposed to their sweeps and outside-the-tackles stuff. I tentatively hope the Cheeseburglar aims to test the secondary to exploit the 1st half absence of Williams — that may be the boot we need to kick out the cooler. With a passing rating of 125 UF is #8 in the SEC.

    I’d expect many more 1st down passes from UF (in keeping with bye week adjustment practices), and if the D defends those well we can rely more on the Grantham 3rd-down magic.

    Gator fans at the local high school football game last night were kind of reserved. Only one smarky comment. We agreed Georgia should win, but also agreed that “should” means nothing. Parted by agreeing that whoever wins the East is buying a beatdown in ATL (although I really don’t necessariliy believe it if the Dawgs go…they’ll be competitive).
    Gator fan loaned me and the wife an umbrella. We did everything except sing “cumbya”. …..I say Dawgs, 24 to 20

    It’s impossible for me to be optimistic about this game.

    Also, it looks like I’ll probably miss the first 30+ minutes of the game, as they’ll be airing the VT-Duke on CBS in my area, and that game doesn’t start until 12:30. Don’t suppose anyone knows a cheap and easy way around this problem … ?

      me too, man. almost always miss the first half hour of the cbs 3:30 game due to whatever acc crap-fest comes on at noon. but cbssports.com will be streaming the game, right? that’s my plan.

      Baltimore’s right, cbs will stream it online. I don’t mind that they wait til the end of a close game (acc crapfest games up here), but when they go down to interview the coaches at 3:50, that’s when I blow a gasket. Is Frank Beamer really gonna say anything different than he’s said in the last 20 years?

      Ini Charlotte we had the same issue with the LSU vs Duke and somebody game but they showed the start of LSU on a lower channel 105 here

          Shouldn’t that be covered in “Play-by-play 101″? I don’t mind that he doesn’t have Larry’s style (who does), but it is basic to let the listener visualize where the ball is one the field. The only people in the world that care about knowing the yardline where the ball rests, or is passing over, and can’t see it are his listeners…don’t keep us in suspense!

    Key today…O-line play. If they can push when we’re in the I and get Isiah some space, and more importantly, keep AM upright when we’re in the shotgun, we got a good chance. Come out like they did vs. Boise, and it’s gonna be a lonnnngggg day.

      You said it…as ever, the big Uglies. There is some beef & quickness on that UF D-Front for penetration, so I don’t think the misdirection stuff will be there, but then the Dawgs hardly use that anyway. Also I’d like to see some PA out to the fullbacks and even IC — give him so outside room to maneuver. W/O Mitchell, the O needs to get more creative than the occasional Go-Route or slants to Bennet/King. Sic ‘Em now, boys!

    Maybe when the 14th team comes in we can petition to move to the West and get out of having to play this game anymore.

    It is beyond a mental hurdle, at this point, it is simply an absolute tire-fire-cluster-fuck. In no other game of the year do you see the shit that happens in this game. Balls off helmets, etc. We just need to quit playing the game, period. I don’t know what else to say.

    We could take the ’89 49ers down to Jacksonville in UGA uniforms to match up with Bolles HS JV team and would be down 28-10 at halftime. It is fucking mind boggling.

    I mean, they suck to start with. Then you have a QB on one leg who can barely move, no true RB but what the one do have goes out with a knee, and no FG kicker. Chuck friggin Norris would be beating us by himself if he put on a pair of jorts and grew a mullet.

      We’ll just ride RSIV to three yards and stumble, but, ya know, maybe he has one of those Arkansas ’09 runs in him. And we know by now the Gators will be blitzing 80% of the snaps. Murray MUST complete quick slants and screens (preferably avoiding the HELMET) to back off these blitzers.

    I finally feel today that Coach Richt still like to continue coaching at UGA. I think he got out of his comfort zone several times. It was a close game but again the main problem is in the special teams that basically gave away 10 points. Bobo also at least called for Samuel in those runs who UF has not been able to stop that much today.

        Hated to seem him have to be carried off at the end of the game… He deserved to be carried off on his teammates shoulders, not by the trainers. Brought the MF’ing boom to them gators. Hell of a game he played.

    We won ugly. We played like crap, and overcame it. We made a one possession score stand up for a small eternity. We earned it. No gimmicks, no dirty play, no nonsense.

    I think games against Auburn, GT or maybe even Kentucky will be nail biters. This game is a better one though with UGA able to keep the ball to the end than in previous games where the defense will have to work their butts

    Lotta people predicted defense would win the day (to humble to include myself).

    The FU offense scored 10 points. Box score is crazy: 83 plays vs 55. 2 of 13 3rd down conversions. The fastest RB duo in the country? 48 yds (team = -19.

      No crap. Those were exactly my thoughts… Our All American punter gets the shanks… seriously? That Gator curse is strong. All it took to break it is a former UGA player to turn Gator and run helplessly over on their sidelines.
