Now be thankful.

A hearty Thanksgiving Day wish to everyone who’s dropped by here.  If you’re a Dawg fan, you’ve got a lot to be grateful for this season, right?

I appreciate what’s got to be the best comments section in the Dawgosphere, so here’s a little thanks back to you, or at least those of you who are old farts like me.  If you’re somebody who believes the Mick Taylor-era Rolling Stones were in fact the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World, you need to go here stat.  It’s the best thing I’ve downloaded in ages.   Just phenomenal.

Anyway, pig out and settle down tonight to watch the last time Texas and Texas A&M meet in the regular season.  And be thankful James Franklin coaches somewhere else.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Senator. (I am thankful for glam rock).

    • Mayor of Dawgtown

Let me add my own “Happy Thanksgiving” to you, Senator, as well as to all the guys who post on this blog. GO DAWGS!!! GATA!!!!

  2. Zdawg

Happy Turkey day Senator. Thanks for the blog. If I spot you at Heirloom Market sometime, the BBQ is on me. (I assume you look like John Belushi with a T-Shirt that says ‘College’ on it.)

    • HM is where I got my (smoked) T-Day turkey from. You would not believe how good it smells.

      • Cojones

Smoked one as well, but for a friend. Smoked one two wks ago, froze the remains, and by request, the ‘Nesian’s made two lovely turkey pot pies. That with a pepper pie and any vegetables you can get your hands on with fresh buttermilk cornbread …..a good Chardonaise from Wal Mart Special and…..

Happy Turkey Day, Blutarsky. You deserve all the accolades that old farts can give one another, but mine comes with,”Thanks for being patient towards and lettin’ other old farts express their young passions for our Great Georgia Bulldogs”.. Peace and good naps. Munson would want that for all ole Dawgs.

Senator, “..old farts..” Hey I resemble that remark! You are the best! I’m thankful we beat the Gators!!

  4. ChicagoDawg

Senator — Thanks for having, by far, the best Dawg blog on the Interwebs. Like many on here, it is one of my daily must reads and you do a great job with it. Thanks again.

Vandy’s Logan Stewart (the guy who clipped Kwame in the Vandy-UGA game and got suspended 1/2 a game for it) “suffered a season ending leg injury against UT.” Karma’s a bitch ain’t it?

  6. Dokes

Thanks for all your hard work Senator. You help keep me sane. You & your family have a Happy Thanksgiving! Go Dawgs! Beat tech!!

  7. Brandon

Thanks to you and the rest of the Dawgosphere from saving me from having to read the AJC. Seriously, this is the best Georgia blog on the internet with Dawg Sports in second. Keep up the good work.

  8. fetch

I’m thankful for Georgia football, food in the oven, family in the living room, and the Sweetwater IPA in my hand. Happy Thanksgiving!

  9. aristoggle

    We gather together …

Thanks for giving a place to do it, Senator.

  10. Boz

Nothing beats a good debate over the greatest rock and roll band of all time, typically amongst my friends over The Stones vs. Led Zepplin.

  11. AthensHomerDawg

Happy Turkey Day. I think the kids have worn me out with their music choices. I did like the ref they had for Coach Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech’s very own “Caroline”. Enjoy the video….Now I will catch some Stones! Thanks.

  12. UGAfoo

Thank you for all your hard work Senator. Hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving. Go Dawgs.

As one old fart to another, Mick Taylor, my big old fart fat butt! Brian Jones was the Golden Stone. I cut my teenaged acne faced teeth on WLAC late night radio from Nashville on a transistor radio and ear phone that I hid under my pillow. I hated the bubble gum top forty pop, I was R&B all the way. The Stones were my favorite band, and Brian Jones, my favorite Stone. Unfortunately he was stoned a little too often. Tragic waste of a brilliant artist.

    • Shane#1. I remember all that well. I even saw Elvis perform in person in 1956. Those were the days my friend. “Animal House still lives in my memory. I was there in 62.

    • Chopdawg

WQXI during the day, WLS at night for me…they didn’t play Jimi Hendrix on WQXI but they didn’t play James Brown on WLS. Good times.

      • shane#1

Son, at the time I was talking about, nobody had heard of Hendrix. I am talking the Kings, Albert and B.B., Bobby “Blue” Bland, Sam Cook and Lightning Hopkins. John R and Hoss Man were the DJs.. I got the shock of my life a few years ago when I found out they were white! Then my Dad died. I was a rebel after that and without my football coach, my Mom, and some athletic ability I would have ended like Brian Jones or Hendrix, or Janis, bless her broken heart. So thank God for coaches that care, thank God for southern law officers that scare the crap out of you, and thank God for Moms that are tougher than nails.

  14. I am happy for all the positive comments as mentioned above. I agree with all of them. Thank You, Senator.
I thought that I was the only one who has been called “An Old Fart” in these comments. It applies to me, Not so sure that It applies to you.

  15. NRBQ

The Stones, Bluto? Those Stones kids are alright, but I thought you were a boney-fied, tie-died-in-the-wool Beatles man.

Happy T-day to you anyhow, and thanks for your constant efforts to provide us readable content.

  16. UGA70

Thanks Senator for all your good work.

While I don’t comment that often, I always read GTP–the best and most thought provoking blog on Georgia Football and College sports in general. Back in ’65 and ’66, I was in a band in South Georgia (Moultrie) and we did several Stones songs, but not always their A-side records like “It’s all over now” and “Little Red Rooster” along with some Beatles, Moody Blues, etc. Good stuff.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  17. Russ

Happy Thanksgiving, Senator. Thank you for having the best UGA blog on the net. Hope you enjoy your day, and Wreck Tech!

  18. UGLYDAWG

I’m thankful for this blog. I’m thankful for this season. I didn’t score enough sweet potato pie and I think Bobo is the reason.
Thanks to all who post here….thanks to Bluto for the venue…
May we all be euphorically (if that’s even a word) thankful Saturday afternoon!

  19. realworldannex

Senator, I’m a lurker 99 percent of the time and don’t say much, but I do enjoy your blog just a helluva lot. And you’re right about your commentariat, they are smart people who know a whole lot more about all of this than I do.

  20. ScooBoo

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Senator.

  21. BMan

Happy Thanksgiving, Senator. Thanks for this blog, it’s a must read every day. And thanks for the Stones site. I couldn’t agree more. Give me the Stones doing “Sway” or “Stray Cat Blues” any day.

I hope everyone had a DAWGGONE good Thanksgiving. Thanks for the blog and forum Senator. By far my favorite. Tuck Fech and War Eagle Atlanta.

  24. Coweta Dawg

    Happy Thanksgiving, All –
Thanks, Senator, for the best Dawg blog around!

  25. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Kudos to this blog. I try not to miss your bogs at all.

  26. JasonC

Does anyone else feel like we bought Texas A&M too high?

  27. Barry Levine

I had a great Thanksgiving, hope you did too….Miracle!

Darn, I miss Larry Munson right now. Still remember his 1978 calls against GTU.

  28. Will Trane

Hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends, and shared moments of tasteful food with talk about the Dawgs. Franklin would give anyone indigestion. Again we know who the villian was at Nashville. Franklin is the HC. It all starts there.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, we all will be thankful if out RBs are there Saturday. Almost there and no word of suspensions or injuries. That means nothing based on the RB history this season.

Hunker down one more time Dawgs for yourselves and Larry Munson.

    • Mayor of Dawgtown

More than just one more time WT. We still have the SECCG next week before we get time before the bowl to get everybody well.

  29. Sorry for the late post…. No thank you Chuck Norris ..er I mean senator .. Best Wishes

  30. Mike

I am thankful that I am able to mix it up with you guys, win or lose.

Now, one of you guys need to go over to stubhub and buy my 4 tickets!

  31. BulldogBen

Tough to argue the Taylor era. I mean, it may be the greatest 4 album run in rock history. BUT, I’ll throw some love to the Ron Wood era as well. “Black and Blue” is one of the most underrated albums ever.

Also, if my alternative 80’s childhood will allow, The Pixies run of “Come On Pilgrim”, “Surfer Rosa”, “Doolittle”, and “Bossanova” is amazing as well.(not to mention Trompe Le Monde)
