I’ve been searching for Michigan State news on Big Ten blogs and such, but as you can imagine, Jerry Sandusky and Urban Meyer have sucked most of the oxygen out of the tent. So apologies for the paucity of info on that front…
- Three questions for MSU.
- Georgia has almost sold out its Outback Bowl ticket allotment.
- The Spartans are going to be a little thin at the defensive tackle spot for the bowl game.
- And they know about SEC speed, baby.
- Journalistic integrity in the era of increasing rights fees. Depressing stuff.
- “We don’t want them to get in any trouble.” Too late for that, brah.
- Charlie Weis announces the addition of Ron Powlus to Kansas staff; Beano Cook immediately predicts two Big 12 titles for Kansas in the next four years.
- With Jim McElwain’s departure for Colorado State, that makes three high-profile SEC programs in the hunt for offensive coordinators during recruiting season.
I’m having a lot of trouble getting excited about playing Michigan State again. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, we’ve got too many bowl tie-ins with the Big (Dull) Ten.
Bingo. I was hoping for a Nebraska match up
I think I’ll thank Santa that no Georgia players’ names were on that “Naughty or Nice Xmas Party” flier.
As I was reading the “Three Question” piece, a breaking story about MSU losing its top commitment to OSU popped up. So, that cheating waiver for cheaters is already paying dividends for Corch.
+1 Well played on the Ron Powlus, Beano Cook item!
Also, Beano himself is Notre Dame in microcosm.
Watch what you say about Beano. I take one every time before eating chili.
Better out than in, I always say.
I hope Georgia shows up to play and isn’t still hung over from the SECCG. I get the feeling MSU will show up a good ticked off team looking to make a statement against the SEC east champ after getting shafted for losing the Big 10 CG by a FG. Should be a good game between two talented and similar teams: good defenses and quarterbacks.
The closer we get to Jan 2, the more excited I am about the match-up. Once I got past the ho-hum-ness of Michigan State; this really is a well-matched game between two good teams.
I PREDICT that the Outback Bowl (Outback always makes me think of the outhouse and not a restuarant, sorry, no metaphor intended…I’m just a country boy)…….will be IC’s real coming out game. He’s gonna be healthy and explode on MSU. Hope I’m right about it.
“That makes three high-profile SEC programs in the hunt for offensive coordinators.”
I must be behind on my offseason moves. After Alabama and Florida, who is the third?
Auburn
Allbarn…Malzahn and Kristi are off to Arky St.
No, really! Gus says, “Shut up!”
Thanks, guys. I hadn’t seen that one yet.
That’s all right, Gravidy. You did specify “high-profile SEC programs”. It would only be natural to leave Auburn out.
By the way, can’t we get a look at their Georgia recruiting with their O and D coor.s gone? What’s keeping them there? Maybe they want to be at the center of next year’s world doomsday pre-dicktions.
Well Merry Xmas Mike Bobo! Clearly going to get a big pay raise from UGA once he throws his name in for the ‘Bama job in a reverse Kirby Smart play (sort of). Why wouldn’t little Nicky want him?
– knows the SEC
– knows pro-style offense
– develops QB’s
– recruits well
– scores 30+ ppg
Probably going to cost us about $1.5mm to keep him. Am-I-rite?!
(and I’m not even sure if this is snark, or a really good prediction…)
I’m not concerned.
Bobo is going nowhere; you can’t expect him to be hauling those five 3-year olds all over the Southland in search of the Golden Goose. His chickens have roosted in Athens.
Mike still holds out hope that he will get to follow Mark as HC at UGA. He knows that to leave us now would be the kiss of death.
Actually…. if that is really Bobo’s goal such a strategy is not really smart on his part. The only time in UGA history (the last 50 years or so at least) hiring a HC by promoting from within has blown up in our faces. If Bobo really wants to be HC at UGA sometime he needs to go somewhere else for a while either as OC of another high profile program (i.e. Bama) or as HC at a smaller place that has a winning tradition where he has a good chance to succeed (i.e. NOT Akron). If he stays at UGA in his current position when CMR retires he will likely be thrown out with the rest of the old staff as soon as the new HC is hired.
Nah, ole go-with-the-flow Belue is still waiting for the clarion call. He’s still trying to find out the flavor of the month since we lost to LSU. What’s a guy with no backbone to do, go to work as Tarkenton’s gardener?
Looks like Mich St is going to make the same mistake that all the Big 81/2 teams make.; overlook UGA on the way to Orlando. They have their excuse in place early. Yep, I’m sure their O and D will match up, unfortunately “on paper” can apply to a lot of things, even bathroom rolls.
When can we get some classroom exam and practice news? Who among the injured can we expect back in 3 weeks?
Tampa. Is everyone asleep?
That was 3 MIN. mon ami!
