Maybe money can’t buy you happiness, but it can sure get you upgraded facilities.

This goes in the “nothing surprises me anymore” bin:  Coastal Carolina fires a head coach with a winning record and replaces him with a guy last seen as the head coach of a 1-5 UFL team… who happens to be a billionaire.

Oh, in case you were wondering, you shouldn’t be.

There are no NCAA regulations limiting how much the nation’s wealthiest college coach can spend on the Coastal Carolina program either directly or through donations.

Moglia, who has no ties to Coastal Carolina, suddenly becomes head coach with almost no experience in D-1 football replacing a guy who had a winning record and 4 division titles? Talk about whoring yourself out Coastal Carolina. Here’s hoping they lose every game this season.

But there ARE NCAA regualtions that prohibit a head coach from giving raises to staff OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET.

Maybe Damon knew that Richt would pay out of pocket for things he refused and was trying to make Richt save up to build his own indoor practice facility.

I was talking to a guy whose son plays at Coastal yesterday here in Perry. He mentioned they were announcing the new coach today and that the players were told the former coach was fired because he wasn’t producing enough for what he was paid per year. $160,000 per year I believe.

I guess when you don’t have to pay the coach it is much easier to achieve better ROI numbers.

BTW, the father and son both expected Spurrier, Jr. was going to be announced yesterday. Bet this caught them off guard.

So a wealthy coach can spend millions on facilities for a school but Richt can’t compensate his coaches out of pocket for $25,000? The NCAA never ceases to amaze me.

Well, it’s going to be funny if it turns out the coach can’t spend money out of his pocket . I wonder if the NCAA will look into this? If they do we might have us another candidate for the Mike Hamilton Trophy.

Maybe they’ll have some money to fix that screen door now.

Moglia, the mogel, greeted everyone with,” Ch-Ch-Ch-Chiao!”.
