Arkansas head coach John L. Smith discloses that he is preparing to declare bankruptcy, and may do so during the upcoming season.
And here’s some wishful thinking: “Smith said the primary reason he’s talking now is so his personal financial problems don’t become a distraction during the season.” Good luck with that, Coach.
At least he’s unlikely to go and spend five figures on tokens of his esteem for members of his staff.
Can’t wait for the first time he tries I convert a 4th down and announcer claims he “went for broke.”
Or prior to the play saying he’s got “nothing to lose.”
I’m gonna have to go to church twice this Sunday.
He’s “all in” on that one.
He’s been “all in” on a lot of things.
You’re confusing him with Petrino. Hi-yo!
Petrino was “in deep.”
That would be a risky gamble
“It’s just a bad investment.”
“I just need to clean it off my plate.”
I can’t believe the University hired someone to a high profile leadership position who was about to go bankrupt.
Pathetic. Shame is dead.
Actually, it’s a perfect hire. If he loses or just doesn’t win enough, they don’t re-up the guy. Even if he wins they can use this as an excuse if they find someone they want more. The only way John L. is in a power position over the Arky brass is if he wins the SECCG or the BCSNCG or both.
+1
They’re used to it at Arkansas…the previous coach was morally bankrupt…
Stories like this make for epic GameDay signs should they be the visiting team.
Shoulda been you, Jim Donnan in 1996.
