Lane Kiffin, master of disguise

When he’s not racking up secondary violations by the bushel, Junior finds the time to push the limits on the NCAA rulebook in other ways (h/t DrSaturday).

USC routinely shuffles numbers between games for a variety of reasons. But, according to NCAA rules, “Numbers shall not be changed during the game to deceive opponents.” If cited, the infraction calls for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

However, officials typically monitor only the numbers worn by offensive linemen, which in college must be between 50 and 79.

Asked if Kessler’s number switch during the Colorado game was meant to deceive, Kiffin said, “We’re just playing within the rules of college football.”

The NCAA football rule book includes a section called the “The Football Code” which is part of the American Football Coaches Assn.’s Code of Ethics. In a list of “unethical practices,” the first item is “Changing numbers during the game to deceive the opponent.”

The hilarious thing here is that the Laner felt the need to do this in a game against 1-6 Colorado, which currently sits at #159 in Sagarin.  Sure it’s perverse, but you’ve got to love a guy who’s that comfortable in his dickitude.  Maybe if he took all his attention to that and devoted it to game planning instead, Southern Cal wouldn’t keep losing to Stanford.

I know a huge part of our fan base will only be happy if we end up in Miami–I would Love it too ! However if we got to play this knucklehead in The Sugar Bowl and beat his brains out–I would be a happy Dog ! Beat fla and I will be a happy Dog !!

    • I hate to say it, but said d*ckhead would beat Richt like a drum on fire. We are missing the element of “let’s win, win now, at all cost!” Kiffin is a pr*ck for sure, but he would have us beat before the first qtr ended. Just my two cents.

Please, why? Because Willie Martinez could not adjust to the roll out QB?

      • Hackerdog

I beg to differ. Kiffin left UT football looking like a couch on fire. It’s still not right. There are ZERO Kiffin recruits currently in the UT program. You think that’s a recipe for success? I can’t imagine the criticism Richt would garner if he skipped a recruiting class.

If AJ isn’t busy Saturday, I’d sure love to trot him out on the field in an 82 jersey.

He is on his bye week, but I think he might look a little suspicious in an #82 jersey. Put him in Blake Tibbs’ jersey, who just happens to be wearing #8.

Kiffin is the gift that keeps on giving. He so looks like the smart aleck kid everyone had in school that you just wanted to punch in the nose. Am I right?

Maybe that’s what his “Maxim quality” wife likes?

    • Nate Dawg

I’d damn sure punch her in the nose if that’s what she wanted!
And you’re spot on with the kid in school.

Why would anyone expect Kiffin and Ethical to be synonyms? This could explain the beatdown in 2007. BTW, I still believe that his “ethics” are the best thing that ever happened to the Vols.

I was talking to a fellow Georgia person the other day, and the subject of Richt came up and a possible replacement. This person said, in all seriousness, “Who would we get? It’s not like Kiffin’s going to leave Southern Cal.”

    I ended the conversation there.

For the love of God, I hope he was being sarcastic.

I think the Richt haters are just exactly thinkers like that guy. Don’t think for a minute that the vast majority of that group is any different than the Cheetzik and Laner crowd. Would sell their soul for a faux award, no matter what it took to get one. The surprise in this is the people who are surprised….look in the mirror folks, it is what you look like to all others.

I did hear a story a month or so ago about some way he was manipulating scholarships to get around the sanctions, might have been a Saban-gray shirting/medical scam type of thing but it truly was playing the system. Guy has zero scruples. I hope the Ducks squat brown poop on his slacks and shoes as they run past his defense.

Recently a tape of Lane Kiffin at an off season coaches convention “luau” themed party was posted to youtube.

Apparently, some guy was talking to Layla and Lane took exception.

  7. Always Someone Else's Fault

Lane is what happens when you have a really smart kid with a dad who is never, ever at home because he’s at work.

Could be stereotyping the family dynamic. I doubt it.

Lane Kiffin is a type we all know. He’d rather climb a tree and lie than stand on the gound and tell the truth.

    “comfortable in his dickitude”…funny!
