Name that caption: these aren’t the good ol’ days.

Look who did a little catching up before Saturday night’s game.

Brant Sanderlin/bsanderlin@ajc.com

Somebody haz his serious face on.  Maybe they were talking about Garner.

Mostly they were talking about BVG’s career in the porn industry now that he’s about done in football:

  2. King Jericho

Funny, they took the same picture after the game too: Grumpy face BVG, smug Richt, empty stands and all!

  3. Billy King

Should’ve stayed with me dumb dumb!

  4. Ben

Richt: “I hope you made a good investment in that moving truck you bought about 10 years ago. I bet that cat has some miles on it by now.”

    BVG: /grunt/

  5. Mackie

“MARK, YOU SAID WE WERE DOING FACIAL HAIR THIS YEAR!”

  6. fuelk2

“I’m assuming you know that my boy Mike Bobo is going to have his way with you, right?”

  7. William

“You still want that apology, huh? Well, we’ll see who needs to apologize after the game b!tch! And don’t come crawling back to me after Bobo bends you over. I’ve got my firebrand back there. And brother, he is meaner and more intense than you on his worst day!”

  8. Marshall

“Brain…come on, man. We’ve been through this…we had some great times…But it’s over! I’m with Grantham now. It’s just the way it is.”

    ::crying:: “Not even LB coach?”

“I gotta go, man. Take care of yourself.”

  9. mwo

Dude, I took the under at 37, can you help a brother out?

  10. So…how ’bout those Falcons?…er…geez….

  11. CMR: “Brian, do you have this spread offense thing figured out yet?”
    BVG: “Not yet.”
CMR: “Good. Mike and Aaron are getting ready to give you a real tutorial. Maybe it’ll help at your next stop in the Big 12.”

  12. IndyDawg

    BVG: “I haz a sad.”
    CMR: “I haz a glad.”

  13. PTC DAWG

    CMR: Clairol #9 I presume?

    BVG: Yep…looks sweet doesn’t it?

  14. Poon

Can I give you my resume?

  15. tbia

Not a caption, but somebody fill me in…..what was the conflict (alleged?) between VG and Garner?

    • pantslesspatdye

Others will have more accurate details than I, but, essentially Garner is supposed to not work as hard as everyone else and VG made an ultimatum to Richt that either he goes or VG goes. Then, VG went on a pilgramige to Statesboro amongst a smorgezboard of other places.

  16. Coweta Dawg

And you want to be my latex salesman . . .

  17. AthensHomerDawg

Just looking at the body language and facial expressions tells you a lot. VanG looks like he got caught doing something he shouldn’t have been doing and Mark looks disappointed in him. Very revealing photo of that relationship. Not a picture of two equals. Now who is it that wanted Brian as our commander … don’t be shy..speak up! Hot seat-hire the pirate-hire Mullen-hire Pornstache- bunch of wankers if you ask me.
I ate Chinese today. Must be the MSG.

  18. Macallanlover

Mark: “No, and no. Kathryn has never seen a stache like that in the movies, and she is riding the bus back with us….Gus.”

  19. Uglydawg

“Disco dancing”, what makes you ask? Me and Chiz go every Saturday night after the game. It relieves all the stress before we start breaking down film.”

  20. Bright Idea

BVG could be at Georgia Tech next year.

    • Because he had so much success turning an option team into a perennial powerhouse at Georgia Southern?

      • Newt

I think he means as DC. But BVG’s years in the pros set him back as a college DC. The game changed so much in 7 years with the proliferation of the spread and the wide open passing games. And look at the talent he inherited at UGA. With tech’s lack of talent on D, it would be ugly.

        • Bobby

Not to mention, they would have to do some personnel development to get back to an optimal 4-3 personnel. Of couse, GT was never particularly successful recruiting and developing players for a 3-4, so maybe the transition wouldn’t be so painful after all.

          • Dawgbro42

If you saw his interview in which he basically fired himself and the rest of the Aubie staff post-Georgia, VG indicated that Auburn needed bigger and stronger athletes on defense. If he believes Auburn doesn’t have the Jimmies and Joes, he’d likely take an even dimmer view of Tech at this point.

  21. sUGArdaddy

“Brian, you think you’re so smart turning this place into a dumpster fire so quickly. I swear, you and Derek just want to do this the quick and easy way. Kirby understands the plan — slowly bring the program down until a devastating loss to us brings the program to shambles. I told you not to go winless in the SEC. Geez, we won’t even get any BCS love from smoking you guys tonight. And you wonder why I put you on Auburn duty instead of keeping you as DC. I thought about sending you to Columbia after Spurrier retires, but you’ll have them 0-12 before I can blink. You simple-minded man, you still don’t understand. What Brian Bohanan is doing at Tech is beautiful — slow, painful drip of mediocrity. Look at Muschamp. He has his team in the top 10, but lost to us, just like we all planned and talked about. You’re ineptitude is going to get us found out. I’ll see you and Derek in my office at 8 a.m. sharp on Dec. 3. My gosh, you disgust me. And get a haircut for goodness sakes. Oh, and Brian, tell the family ‘hello.'”

    • Cosmic Dawg

Which one of you jokers awards the winner winner chicken dinner? Is that Ausdawg or AthensHomerDawg? This post gets my vote!!

    • Bulldog Joe

      +1

“Brian, your job was to bring down South Carolina but you wussed out on it. Remember, we had it all worked out. You at South Carolina. Will at Florida. Derek at Tennessee. Kirby at Alabama. Willie at Auburn. They all did their job. The only reason we’re not ranked #1 right now is you. I pray for you.”

  22. Brian Dawg

You know we’re gonna own you, right? right?

  23. Pvt. Daniel D. Farbecker

“I hear Tech has a DC position open…”

  24. Lrgk9

Hey Brian, how green is the grass on the otherside of the fence anyways?

  25. Bryan kirkland

That guy deserves everything he gets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back in 07 a good friend of mine (Not gonna name him but,2007 sugar bowl mvp) gave me two tickets to watch his last game at UGA. It started raining as all the UGA parents were standing in line waiting on the doors to open. I was talking to Brandon Coutu’s grandfather when we heard a real obnoxious voice yell, I AM BRIAN VAN GORDER, AND YOU WILL LET ME IN WHEN I SAY SO!!!!!! He was yelling at the little girl behind the door, because he was too good to stand in the rain with the rest of the regular people. He’s an asshole then, and now. He gets what he deserved……

  26. HVL Dawg

Nah. I honestly don’t miss you at all. But it looks like you are doing well- you’ve got that good job at Auburn and all.

  27. Ubiquitous GA Alum

BVG; Coach, why can’t you take Willie home with you?

  28. Hogbody Spradlin

Brian I gave you your start but I didn’t guarantee it would be wine and roses the whole way.

  29. fetch

VG: Back in ’82, I used to be able to toss a pigskin a quarter of a mile.
    CMR: Are you serious?
    VG: I’m dead serious.

  30. El Dawgo in El Paso

Somebody’s really frustrated that he has to abide by this new curfew thingy…

  31. AusDawg85

Oh my goodness…37 or so comments deep and this was missed?

CMR: “I like driving my truck”

    BVG: “Yeah..and Auburn sucks.”

    • Macallanlover

Very nice. Sometimes we forget what really matters in any conversation during that week. Always commnicate….and Auburn sucks. I didn’t pre-2010 but I have seen the light.

  32. indemnitor

Yeah- its Ezekiel 25-17 Brian, i happen to know it :
“: The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee..! Anyhoo,
    see ya after the game”

  33. is it september yet

CMR: Our plan is working. Your assistance taking down Cheeznip and Trooper has not gone unnoticed. The hiring of Martinez was brilliant. Better take one of Troopers money bags before he let’s Foster have it all.

  34. i think that wisdom tooth needs to come out.

  35. Mayor of Dawgtown

This pic doesn’t exactly look like to old buddies getting together before a game who are glad to see each other, does it?

  36. Bogey Dawg

“Sorry, I don’t know what Fabris is doing this days.”

  37. doofusdawg

posted my caption on vent but clearly bvg is perplexed because cmr isn’t even looking at him… he is looking through him at ctg to remind ctg of what life can be like in the merry go round of college and pro football coaches…

  38. SouthGa Dawg

“No, Brian I’m not taking you back. First you leave for Jax – now look where they are – then you take over at Georgia Southern and you almost bury that program – then you leave the Falcons last year and now they are 8-1. Ha Ha (under his breath)…really Brian?

    Come on coach….please…I’ll be a grad. assistant…

  39. Coach Bobby Finstock

I don’t do the two thumbs up thing much anymore. Nowadays I just cross my arms and scowl like this.

  40. IWanaBDaveGrohl

CMR: “Remember that game 10 years ago here in 2002, how good that game felt? Remember looking over to the Auburn sideline and seeing how bad they felt? You’re gonna be on the other side of that tonight, except it’s gonna be 10 times worse.”

    BVG: “Awwwwww man…….”

  41. Dawg19

(Richt): “Wow! Chad Everett! You were great in Airplane II…”
