NCAA must enjoy writing their own epitaph. They make the federal government look competent.

Hicks put on 20 pounds? What is up to 265-270?

Marshall Morgan’s case is kind of sad to me. He was out having a good time and meant no harm to anyone. I’m not exusing what he did…but it sounds like he got a pretty harsh penalty….and the comparison to the Jeremy Hill situation points out the disparity in “discipline” as it is defined by different coaches (and judges).

This!! I am furious about the whole Jeremy Hill situation, he beat the ever loving hell out of that guy and basically didn’t get anything and won’t miss any game time. I am normally against a central government model, but in this case the SEC office needs to be the one determining discipline, obviously some schools can’t do the right thing.

And he was on probation when he hit the guy, and got less than MM.

There’s a pretty strong case to be made that boating under the influence should carry a tougher penalty than getting in a bar fight. I sympathize with Marshall, I was out on Lanier a few weekends ago and had a few beers myself. But the DUI laws are there for a reason. And has LSU announced if Hill will miss any games yet? I didn’t think we knew what amount of game time he would be suspended (if any).

MMl wasn’t under the influence per say, he was a MINOR. As in under 21 and had the nerve to have a BEER. Folks who haven’t had older teens have no idea how the local jurisdictions use this law to create CASH flow. The same things go with college kids that went on years ago, just now many of things are illegal under the eyes of the law that did not used to be.

Exactly right, the over reactive PC crowd grabs another. Frankly, MM was tested because a helicopter spotted him pulling a tube behind them without a spotter. That was the only reason he was confronted by authorities on the water, not because he was swerving across lane of traffic or running red lights. The “under the influence” standard for under 21 I drinking is .02, that can almost be achieved by putting on after shave lotion. Our drinking laws in the US are out of control, imo. We have competing programs that either do not test for drug use, and some that allow double digit failed drug tests without suspension. Yeah we need some common ground in CFB, if we only had leadership from the NCAA/SEC. What Jeremy Hill did was far worse then what MM was cited for.

The handling of the Jeremy Hill situation (from the legal system to LSU to Miles) is beyond disgusting to me. It’s very sad. The SEC, and more particularly, the SEC West, is such a cesspool of every kind of bad behavior–at every level of oversight it seems.

Um, everyone who is out boating under the influence or driving under the influence is just out having a good time meaning no harm to anyone. And yet, people still get killed from bui and DUI. Penalties from the Probate Court for this offense are in line with what normally gets handed out. They want people to think: “How good of a time do I really need to have here”?
I don’t know about Louisiana but I suspect what the court did to Hill was in line with similar cases there. I have no excuse for Miles, but that is something we can’t control.

      • And yet people are killed from assault every year… Hill intended to harm the guy through violence. Marshall was caught breaking the law, and it could have possibly led to further issues. Hill should be looking at more serious legal issues, regardless of where you stand on BUI’s.

Plus the fact that the video showed him laughing at the victim. He was malicious in his intent, unlike MM. Its not even in the same ball park as far as Im concerned.

Morgan should have been wearing a purple and gold shirt and rushed for 1150 lastyear…

I was hoping to see more commentary from you, Senator, about the Knight Commission recommendation. I saw that on MrSEC.com yesterday and was hoping you would rip the NCAA a new one for having the gall to suggest they should be paid by the college football playoff for something the NCAA has nothing to do with.

Pollock ripped LSU pretty good. Herbstreit couldn’t defend Miles fast enough.

Didn’t even get through a week of practice before more hatered of Herbstreit got to mid-season levels.

    • AthensHomerDawg

Golic ripped him pretty good too. Which I found interesting considering that he is an ex ND player.

Illustrates the difference in attitude between Georgia and Ohio State.

After reading the “Cam gave Johnny Football advice” story, I noticed a link (http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/eye-on-college-football/23043109/report-desmond-howard-sued-for-his-image-understands-manziel-issue) to a story that could add more fuel to the O’Bannon lawsuit fire.
