My SEC Power Poll ballot, Week 10

All favorites and no upsets make this week’s ballot a dull boy.

  1. Alabama.  Here’s a measure of the size of the gap between Alabama and the rest of the conference:  the Tide opens as an 11-point favorite over LSU.
  2. Missouri.  Made South Carolina’s loss to Tennessee look even worse than it already was.
  3. Auburn.  Even after dispatching the Hogs, Auburn remains in the red in net yardage in conference play.
  4. LSU.  Two three-point road losses is what’s standing between the Tigers and contention in the West.  (And upcoming games against Alabama and Texas A&M.)
  5. Texas A&M.  Number one in offense, number fourteen in defense means things are never dull when you watch the Aggies.
  6. South Carolina.  12 first downs, 34 points.  That’s what going +5 in turnover margin at home gets you.
  7. Georgia.  Will Muschamp has lost control of Mark Richt.
  8. Mississippi.  This ballot’s bye week bounce winner.
  9. Florida.  The Gators are now last in the conference in scoring.  I take this opportunity to remind you that Brent Pease got a raise in the offseason.
  10. Vanderbilt.  If the Commodores can’t take down Florida this week, they may never do it.
  11. Tennessee.  The Vols’ lack of team speed is killing them.
  12. Mississippi State.  With TAMU, Alabama and Ole Miss left on the schedule, bowl eligibility is starting to look like a stretch.
  13. Arkansas.  These guys are turning the bottom of the ballot into a real fight.
  14. Kentucky.  Well, at least we know the Wildcats could rip through the SWAC.

“Will Muschamp has lost control of Mark Richt.” Maybe Da Boomeister is 0-3 against Georgia because Mark Richt is not a good matchup for Muschamp. Hell, we beat Florida even with Mark Richt limping.

Lot of kids limping right along with him this season. 😉

Somebody opined the final battles of the season may be Mark Richt’s finest hour…

” We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender”

We have survived the first skirmish of the Amen Corner…

I said that and if the Dawgs win out with all the adversity they have faced this year (injuries, shitty refs, etc.) I will stand by that statement.

Hell, Mayor, are you not ready to pony up to the statement right now?

When you see the dramatic difference just two or three players make, what would it be like with five or six?

At the risk of sounding like a shrill shill….Mark Richt is pretty good, you know?

So Pease got himself a raise. I’m not surprised. Raises aren’t earned anymore. I think that one was more about sending a message to recruits regardless of job performance. If hiring great coaches was just a matter of spending the big bucks Texas should have a NC every year. USC of course would be in that title game. Since Georgia has all those reserves many of the Georgia faithful would expect Georgia to contend every year. Tennessee spent all their money. So they will be out of it for a while. Bamboo is still growing I guess. Shower protocol is much improved. Nick Saban is a unique coach. Rare coach. And Alabama has much different DNA than Georgia. They run that program like a semi-pro team. Georgia is still trying to cling to it’s amateur status. Nick said he is too old to start over at another school. When he does retire Alabama will miss him. I know Apple Computer is missing Jobs right now. At least they have all those reserves. 😉

Congrats to the official in game Saturday. Easily could have ejected several players. No doubt that was ugly at time on the field by both squads. And more than likely SEC office will dial up UGA and UF ADs about player conduct on the field. As bad a officiating was at Vandy that was very good Saturday.

    Re:…negative net yardage…

Auburn is using the defense to wear down the opposing team.

    Yeah, that sounds about right.
