Down goes Oregon.

Best line of the night:  “On the bright side, think of all those kids in Africa that will get those “We Want Bama” T-shirts.”

Nike, for the win loss!

  1. Good, disciplined athletes with physical toughness beat flash every time. Oregon beats up on teams who don’t have the athletes to punch them in the mouth. They have the classic glass jaw.

David Shaw should be on every high profile list of candidates this offseason, but I don’t think he leaves Palo Alto.

  2. If you turned off your TV for the last five minutes, then you missed some crazy suspense. Oregon was one more possession away from taking this game. Hats off to Stanford for the game plan and the tough play. Their special teams play towards the end, well it reminded me of my beloved Dawgs.

I took great pleasure in watching the run-up-the-score whiners get pushed all over the field. They remind me of teams coached by Spurrier, frankly.

  4. DawgByte

Stanford reminds me a lot of Bama.

    • Patindc

That would be a nice game to see.

    • Mayor of Dawgtown

Given the media love for Stanford that is still a possibility.

Except with lesser depth and lesser athletes.

It’s been interesting to hear the talking heads all rave about Stanford’s “old school” approach to offense, physical toughness, keeping the flashy offense off the field by controlling the ball with it’s pro style offense. You know who else is pretty good at that? Uh, Alabama, and several of the better SEC school.

no offense to Oregon, which has a really good program, but if they played in the SEC and got a steady diet of smash mouth old man football, they might have a little tougher row to hoe.

      • Bright Idea

Takes a lot of patience and balls to keep running the ball on third down and I wonder if Stanford is one of the few teams with players willing to stay within that system. Good field position seemed to work against Stanford when they got it. Not enough field to kill clock.

Better hope Bama and FSU win out, otherwise we get the travesty of Corch and the OSU in the final.

Corch is the only g̶e̶n̶t̶l̶e̶m̶a̶n̶ s̶c̶u̶m̶b̶a̶g̶ fellow that I can think of that could make me pull for Saban.

Which was my initial realization as the Ducks (and how does one take anything nicknamed Ducks seriously, right?) went down the drain. I’m not at all sure I can gin up my constitution to stay interested in The Sabans v. The Corch. It’s abominable, and much like Timmy T/Oklahoma, I would boycott the thing.

Michigan State vs. Ohio State will look a lot like Stanford vs. Oregon.

Not convinced Ohio State escapes that one.

      • Macallanlover

Yes, I have that same thought. If that happens, just hope they draw an SEC team that can kick them badly. Confident Oregon and some West Coast team will if they get to the Rose Bowl instead of MSU.

The Trees came to play last night, they haven’t looked anywhere near that good before last night. Kudos to Shaw and his program for getting those guys ready to play on the big stage and dominate Oregon last night. Thoroughly enjoyed watching that performance although I was hoping for a more competitive game (yeah, I know how it got sloppy at the end but it was over early.) FSU fans can now rejoice, they control their own destiny and I don’t see anyone derailing them. Hope they pound the dirty gators by 30+ on their way to Pasadena.

Will Duck Dynasty fall out of the BCS and top 10 now. Steel shots on ducks. Thought Cards would win because of their O line play. Would like to see the Dawgs use some of that, and they have at times. But, what if Ducks had put some points on board in 1st half when their QB pissed around and did not execute.

    • AlphaDawg

I’m pretty sure that was Old School lead they were getting peppered with, not no new fangled steel shot.

Fist time I’ve seen Ducks play and their QB. And this guy is up for the big award in NY. Give me a break. Cards removed his band last night. But the short coming in Cards offense…after first 14, they could not put the ball in the end zone. Reminded me of Dawgs in JAX and CMA land. Like controlling the ball and clock, but agains in any offense you might want to put points on the boards

Ducks. Now where does their D rank in D1? Gave up 2 TDs and 4 FG, one blocked for a TD. What does that say about # 5′s STs? What does it say about a #3 D’s. Could not get off the field and stop 3rd conversions. TG, have a ?, what did Ducks 3rd donversion stops look like. Dawg fans would have gutted you boy.

Shout out to fellow grunt Marines on our Birthday this coming Monday, and to all fellow combat veterans on Tuesday!

    • Olddawg 55

I think Baylor would have destroyed both those teams. And, no, they could not stand up to an SEC pounding week after week. My compliments to the Marine and the Corps and a happy anniversary! I had many Marines under me in 37 years and they were always a class act in every way. No other service comes close in esprit and tradition. Hate to see them wasted in the grind that’s Afghanistan..or any service either. Uh rah, and Semper Fi, WT…and many more to come!!

Yeessh. Thanksgiving with my FSU brother in law is gonna SUCK now.

  12. Yea and the hell with all us REMF’s that facilitate shoot, move and communnicate!
