Holy shit! Muschamp’s gone after this one. Once upon a time not long ago, I’d salivated over the prospect of getting rid of Grantham and getting Boom back in Athens. While I still want to see Grantham’s ass unceremoniously canned, I’m not sure I still want Boom as his replacement.

    • No Boom please. He followed Gene Chizik at both Auburn and Texas, and the defenses declined at both schools after he took over. He got torched quite a bit at Texas. He’s better than Grantham, but we can do better. And he is not even the DC at Florida so I am not giving him credit for that.

Speaking of Chizik, Auburn led the nation in scoring defense when Chizik was DC. At Texas, he was the DC on the team that won the BCS title. I am not saying we should hire him either, but he has had more success as a DC than Boom.

      • Mayor of Dawgtown

D.J. Durkin is the DC at FU. If Boom gets axed likely the whole staff goes. Durkin may be the right guy at the right time. Plus, he looks a little like Erk.

    • section Z alum

no one who wears the urnge after being a Dawg is ever allowed back in good graces. EVAH

      he’s Fredo Corleone in jorts

  2. The Lone Stranger

GO you Hairy Eagles! Well, the wheels are now fully off the wagon AND the plane has crashed into the mountain. That’s a gutty win, no matter the current state of UF.

  3. TennesseeDawg

Wow. Muschamp’s work for the UGA Illuminati has been a little too successful

    • Yea, there definitely on to us now. Check this quote from over at Yahoo sports:

      JAHMAN 1 hour ago 0 5
Muschump texted his fellow dawg said mission accomplished Gator football totally destroyed for at least a decade. This clown needs to step down after today and seek employment elsewhere

  4. Will (the other one)

Marty Morningwheg’s kid is really not good at QB play.
And I’d take Boom in a heartbeat at DC if he brought Tavaris Robinson with him. Heck, I’d be ecstatic if Grantham returned but we let Lakatos go and snatched up Robinson.

  5. I kinda hoped we would have one more year of Muschamp. Oh well.

Hitting rock bottom like this is sometimes the best thing. Their program obviously needs a reboot, and now they will get it.

Can’t say the same for other programs that are plateued and going nowhere. Just good enough to keep everyone’s job.

    • dudetheplayer

Yeah, I definitely would rather lose to Georgia Southern at home, lose to our biggest rivals, and go 4-8. Great call.

      • gastr1

Muckbeast with the same old song and dance…nothing to see here but the baby dragon trolls, folks

      • I’d still trade it for the fact that they won 2 national championships to our 0 this century.

        • Dolly Llama

What’s this “our” shit, paleface? I’m not on any team with you.

          • Well then I guess you aren’t a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.

            • Dolly Llama

You’ll never make me believe you’re a Bulldog fan.

              • Why not? Because in your world everyone has to take the exact same stance on things? They have to have the exact same opinion or belief or else they are a diametrically opposed enemy?

It is my opinion that the coaching staff we have is completely plateued. They don’t promote a culture of accountability. Coaches that aren’t good enough for the job and salary they have are kept on indefinitely. We hire a S&C coordinator from the video department. Its a joke.

Disagree with me, whatever. But think about it for 2 seconds. If you honestly believed what I believe in the above paragraph, would you be happy with the fact that we never make the big moves to be a big time program?

Maybe you’re fine with 8-10 win seasons and occasionally getting media attention for how we ALMOST DID SOMETHING GREAT.

I’d rather have a program that ACTUALLY does great things – like win national and SEC titles.

                • Chris

                  Then go somewhere else asshat.

                  • Bulldawg165

Hate on him all you want, but he’s got a point.

                    • Matt R

The results speak for themselves don’t they? You can wander all around and say we almost did, coulda, woulda, shoulda, but then again, we always end up with something like the Auburn ending or some deal like Alabama game in 08. We don’t project like we are a championship team. Everybody circles their calendar for our game because they think they can beat us. Why is that?

                • JRW7

I’m with you muck beast, what’s wrong at UGA is CMR, with the 4 and 5 star talent that CMR has had in the last 13 seasons, there should have been at least, 1 MNC! He has no intensity, no drive to ever win a MNC!

    • Son of a Spurrier

This ain’t bottom. Wait to see what felony charges Winston racks up against them next week.

  6. Bulldawg165

I bet the AD and president refuse to talk to the media after showing their support for him just a week or two ago. Barring an unbelievable win against FSU Muschamp is getting canned.

    • Dolly Llama

It’s possible — I don’t think probable, but possible — that he doesn’t make it to FSU. If he does, he almost surely won’t make it to the bowl game.

Oh, wait … they’re not going to a bowl. My bad! BwahHAHAHAHAH!

    • The AD never said he would be back in 2014. So read the tea leaves. If they intended to bring him back, they could have said so in the statement.

      • Mayor of Dawgtown

Here’s the problem for FU re: HC of the football team. Look at the 2014 schedule. There is a stretch in the early to mid part where the Gators play several really tough games in a row (Bama, LSU, Georgia to name 3) and likely will lose all of them. They could have 5 or 6 losses before the end of October. A new HC would not want to face that right out of the box. I think they keep Boom around, let him take the heat for those losses, then fire him before season’s end to give themselves a head start over the other teams looking for a new HC. Muschamp never makes it out of the ’14 season. Still, that’s good for us–bad for them. We’ll probably win our 4th in a row at the WLOCP either way.

  7. DawgBiscuit

So that’s what rock bottom looks like. Let’s count our blessings, Dawgnation.

  8. dudetheplayer

    LOLGators.

I’m kinda pissed that GA Southern beat ‘em worse than we did.

    …. just kiddin’.

  9. Timphd

Muschamp might be done no matter what Foley said last week. Losing to FCS teams can’t be explained totally on injuries. GSU averaged nearly eight yards per rush. Erk would be proud of his team. Put me down as a “no” vote for hiring Muschamp as DC. Pissed me off with his comments about UGA when FU hired him.

    • WF dawg

I’m with you on not wanting Muschamp as DC in Athens. He hasn’t proven he can keep a team from giving up when it meets adversity.

    • AmpedDawg

I was pissed at many of his comments as well. I guess that I have let some of that go at this point. “What was he supposed to say?” is kind of my feeling about what he said when he got the job. Perhaps though, in what I hope is our version of the Tee Martin season, I want to have someone that knows how to coach the 3-4 so that we don’t have to completely retool the personnel. Certainly Texas had serviceable defenses and Florida’s issues in the past 3 seasons can’t be hung on the defensive side of the ball. I don’t think that the Dawgs need a Top 10 D…top thirty or forty should be adequate. In what is likely Gurley and Malcolm Mitchell’s last season, I just want to have a shot. Admittedly, my hope that WM might be our DC next season is short sighted, but for crying out loud I’m ready for something big in Athens in 2014.

  10. Nate Dawg

    Ahhhh hahahahahahahaha!
Erk Russell is my homeboy! Go Eagles!

  11. fetch

When’s the last time UF lost to TWO Georgia teams in the same year?

    • Scorpio Jones, III

Proly not that unusual….Tech (when in the SEC and Georgia.

      • Mayor of Dawgtown

The last time before this in which something close to that happened was in 1979 when FU lost to Georgia and was tied by Tech. But Scorp’s right–it was commonplace. FU has lost to both Georgia and Tech in the same season the following years: 1951, 1950, 1948, 1942, 1939, 1936, 1935, 1933, 1932 and 1931. FU also lost to both Georgia and Mercer in 1926 but did not get the trifecta because they did not play Tech that season.

        • The Lone Stranger

… and whatdaya know, the hairy Mercer Bears are coming on back with some football in a few years! By my lights, UF should give them a wide berth re: scheduling.

  12. HVL Dawg

Can we get Georgia State (my school) on their sked?

  13. Scorpio Jones, III

All this will be a lot funnier AFTER we beat hell out of Kentucky.

  14. UFTimmy

    Someone hand me a beer?

UF is losing a coach. Maybe you guys will be picking up a great DC.

  15. Oregon is getting blown out by Arizona State.

  16. Nashville West

A picture of Dawg Nation is located next to the word schadenfreude in the dictionary.

  17. Scorpio Jones, III

You know that triple option thing GSU runs? Seems like somebody else runs that thing.

    • Nate Dawg

Yup. And we’re 4-1 against it. Not sayin we win next wk, but not sayin we loose either.
Just pick the right hat, Scorp, & hang in there…

      • Will (the other one)

Based on the stats last year, I’d say GASou runs the TO better than Tech does. (And hell, they had more rushing yards on the Gators than the NATS had against Alabama Community College.)

        • The Lone Stranger

Did you catch the stat of the weekend: Southern threw exactly !3! forward passes all game …. and completed NIL!! and !

    • Olddawg 55

I do hope we have been going to school on the defenses that handled GT with some success this season…I hate that we have to reinvent our defense each time we play Tech…and we don’t have a warm-up with GaSouthern this year. Aren’t the gnats piling up high rush stats even when they don’t win? Glad we got some reserves in the game tonight..making a list and checking it twice? Go Dawgs and THWT!!!

  18. Dog in Fla

    “26-20 Boom goes the dynamite.”

    Best epitaph ever.

    It just came too soon.

  19. dudetheplayer

UGA special teams – dumb dumb dumb…

  20. dudetheplayer

    God. Fucking. Dammit.

  21. Dolly Llama

Son of a God damn bitch. They should have taken him out when he first hurt the damn knee.

Guess we’ll see at least a little bit of what Mason’s got.

  22. SCDawg

Anyone esle absolutely irate at the way SEC refs allow murray to get the shit kicked out of him on late hits? If that was a georgia DL slinging the QB around i have no doubt we’d be flagged with a 15 yard PF.

    • Dolly Llama

I’d say it’s been happening all year, but it’s been happening pretty well ever since the kid started playing.

      • Mayor of Dawgtown

Right, DL. And I blame our chickenshit AD and pious, sanctimonious HC for never doing a damn thing about it!!!

        • Joe Schmoe

I watched the replay of the auburn game and you could clearly see richt giving wagers and the other refs an ear full about the late hits on Murray.

    • Nate Dawg

I would like to be counted among the irate. All this concern for safety – ESPECIALLY at the QB
position – thru ALL levels of football – and Aaron Murray is the shinning exception to the rule. Hit him whenever, where ever, anytime you like and it just doesn’t make a fuck.

  23. Turd Ferguson

I hate this fucking season so much.

    • Flukebucket

+1,000 I think this is the only season I have been wanting to end. Since the Vanderbilt collapse I have just been completely deflated

    • Well at least we did beat SC, LSU and Flordia. Some great moments there. If we are going to have 4 losses, i’d rather 3 of them be to Missou, Vandy and Clemson, rather than SC, LSU and Fla.

  24. Mel Kiper thinks Ramik Wilson’s stock is rising and that he might leave after this year for the NFL…after just one season of any significant playing time.

    • The Lone Stranger

That doesn’t alter the fact that Mel Kiper resembles Count Chocula.

    • Keese

Ramik was definitely all over the field making plays. Kimbrough had a nice play as well.

Dawgs defense gave great effort all night long. I think the Grantham detractors just need to wait til next year.

  25. Turd Ferguson

    Sterling Bailey’s on crutches.

  26. Turd Ferguson

And Murray just left the stadium in an ambulance.

    • Scorpio Jones, III

Radio says a car with family…but thats bad.

      • Scorpio Jones, III

        Senior night jinx….Greene….Zeier

      • Turd Ferguson

Yeah, the AJC said it was an ambulance. But apparently, it was a patrol car. Not that it matters, though.

        • Scorpio Jones, III

Sucks…no matter what. Radio says it was a “legwhip” to the knee…bad bruise??

          • Dolly Llama

I hope you’re right, but I frankly doubt it. The kid’s been tough as a pine knot. It would have to be something serious to take him out. I really doubt we’ll see him at Tech, and I wouldn’t be all that surprised if tonight’s not all she wrote, period, bowl game and all.

            • Mayor of Dawgtown

It was reported that when the absence of a flag for targeting Murray on the last play of the Georgia-Auburn game was pointed out to Penn Wagers, he replied the Murray wasn’t a “defenseless player.” That POS doesn’t even know who is supposed to be covered by the rule–if you believe that BS. A QB throwing a pass is the definition of a “defenseless player.” That asshole has been flagging hits like that on QBs all season. That comment proves Wagers needs to be fired.

      • Olddawg 55

Actually, a Georgia State Patrol sedan. Hope he can recover before combine or Senior Bowl. Looks like it would be asking too much for our bowl game…too bad!

  27. fetch

With Southern stepping up a division and playing the same offense as GT, yall think they start taking recruits from the Jackets?

    • Dolly Llama

“Start?” You think they don’t already?

      • Dolly Llama

Ain’t a school out there that hasn’t stolen a Tech recruit.

        • Mayor of Dawgtown

I think UGA ought to seriously consider playing Georgia Southern the week before Tech every year. The Eagles run the same offense and are not likely to beat the Dawgs what happened to Florida notwithstanding. That would be the best possible prep for playing Tech.

  28. 20 ninjas

    Not impressed with Jesus Mason.

    That’s a joke, folks. Don’t stone me.

    • Dawgfan Will

The only thing I’m worried about is that he seemed to hold on to the ball for an awful long time for several throws. Looked pretty good otherwise.

      • Normaltown Mike

It was interesting seeing a new QB really run the O after all these years.

His delivery is a little sidearm compared to AM, but he doesn’t wind up as long/much. He seems to have a quick trigger.

  29. Dave

    Hey Senator,

I think it is safe to say your pre-season skepticism of the love the Gators were receiving was justified. Their offense….um….yeah…..

  30. The Lone Stranger

Only in a season this absurd could the anemic Wildcats deal the most crushing blow to the Dawgs roster. I thought I was all run dry of stipe fixation after last weekend. But, then again, welcome in to Dawgdom.

    • The Lone Stranger

Truly oddball word association deal on this device: NOT “stipe fixation” — stupefication. Mike Stipe seems alright but I’m not that way at all.

  31. Rock and Roll Rebel

I think I just saw Steve Spurrier’s voodo doll of Aaron Murray for sale on ebay. Damn. Just Damn.
