Rodney Dangerfield is wearing orange and blue.

Damn it, Robbie Andreu is puzzled.

After being around other members of the media way too much last week at the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, I walked away with the distinct feeling that those who cover SEC football think the Gators are basically going to be no factor in the conference race this season.

I’m not really sure why preseason opinions of Florida seem so low. Maybe the other hacks can’t get that Georgia Southern stain off their minds, or maybe they’ve forgotten all those crippling injuries that helped wreck UF’s season in 2013, and the fact most of those guys will be back in 2014, including starting quarterback Jeff Driskel (who really seems to get no respect from the media around the SEC).

That Georgia Southern loss?  Well, yeah.  Blame injuries as much as you want for that disappointing season – well, except for the loss to equally crippled Georgia – but the Gators still should have had enough in the tank to beat a 1-AA team in the Swamp.

Gotta admit “the other hacks” is a nice touch, though.

    Consider the Peer Group.

At least one of the ‘hacks’ is also a lawyer.

Now whether that’s an attribute or a defect; a feature or a flaw; art or junk – is up to the reader(s)…

They had what, 4 of their best defenders declare early for the draft? I think they’ll improve on offense at around the same inverse margin as they’ll decline on defense. 7 to 8 wins and a bowl game sounds like what they should be hoping for. Their schedule is tough, but they are home a lot. If they suck early, seeing an empty swamp on TV and watching the final phase of Agent Muschamp’s mission come to fruition will make each Saturday feel like Christmas!

Boom is entering the final phase of his mission to destroy the very foundation upon which The Swamp is built. This will leave an indelible stain on the mind of Robbie and free the other hacks held captive in 37F.

6 regular season wins max for FU in 2014. And they have to beat UT in KnoxVegas for the 6th win. Look at their schedule.

The lizzards have Bama, LUS, Mizzou, The Cocks, Free Seafood U, and the Dawgs. They will lose a minimum of 3 of those games. I see 8-4 as the upside, In a perfect world, one of Agent Muschamp’s wins will be FSU and he gets to keep his job….in spite of losing 4 in a row to the Dawgs.

“starting quarterback Jeff Driskel (who really seems to get no respect from the media around the SEC).”

    Because he sucks.

    • Why can’t he get any respect? Haven’t those hacks read all the Driskel pre season hype? Why you gotta hate on his performance during the regular season DN??

      • Russ

Heck, Driskel is a regular John Brantley. I don’t know why people don’t give him respect.

    • +5000. FU fans don’t seem to get that Driskel is an average at best QB that practically won the job by default over whoever that equally mediocre QB was they had a couple of years ago. Started with a b but I’m getting old.

    booger eaters……………….

  6. Go Dawgs!

Georgia Southern had even more players injured for that Florida game than did the Gators. Funny how they never bring that up.
