Going on the disabled list

It’s got nothing to do with the pinched nerve I mentioned last week, but I’m going in the hospital today for a surgical procedure.  I’ll probably have about a three-day stay there after which I’ll be sent home to recuperate, which should take about as long as I need to ditch the pain medication.  Obviously, I can’t say you’ll see much blogging production out of me for the next week or so, but I shall return.

Hey, it could be worse.  The surgery was originally scheduled for August 26th. And like weddings, you just don’t schedule major surgery in the fall in the South.  I will be at the opener, by Gawd.

Do what the doctors say, Senator. We’ll try not to trash the place completely before you get back.

  12. Moe Pritchett

daaannnng dude….fast recovery to you! GATA!!

  13. Last time I was in the hospital for three days I drew a male nurse. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Even though I was in ICU there are just some things I had to do for myself. ;-). Get well soon and hope you draw a good looking, professional female nurse to ease you stay.

    • Dog in Fla

“Last time I was in the hospital for three days I drew a male nurse.”

If you can transition that skill into a still life of a recruit’s head and/or face, there may be a voluntary spot for you on the recruiting staff

      • Dammit DIF I did not “Draw” a picture! I drew the short stick. Instead of a healthy female nurse, I was assigned someone with a beard. Which meant that as long as I could reach for my clicker or my John Henry I was fine and would be handling my own sponges one on one. I felt as if my promotion to ICU deserved a different status… as I was the only one that was awake or not on a ventilator. None the less apparently I was “frocked” and my promotion devoid of the benefits of a raise. I can’t prove it but… some of the personal talked like they were from outta state.Just sayin’

  14. HVL Dawg

We’ll get a green non contact jersey ready with your number. Get well soon.

    • Thatguy

Well, we were going to get you a green jersey with Reggie Ball’s favorite number on it, but, I can’t find a character for ‘Threeve’.

Rest up, and get back before Clem(p)son.

  32. 81Dog

wow. This is what happens when you even possibly allude to Mudcat’s car in a post? Malcolm Mitchell probably needs to be careful while he’s folding his laundry this summer.

Here’s to an uneventful procedure and a speedy recovery!

  33. Lrgk9

Best wishes and tell the Anitheosiogist that any clown can put somebody to sleep, now waking them back up – that’s the mainline art job!

You need to catch up on your medical literature. This reference has been iconic through the years. Please read and let me know if it helps:

      Canadian Medical Association Journal, Vol.93, p 1357
      au. J.S. Greenstein

Take your time with the graphs and references. Some are Old Testament.

      Smoke’em if you got’em.

      • Cojones

This was for the Senator, Large, but feel free to peruse. Took too long to look up the ref – thought it was the blog page bottom – and it ended up here.

Someone here doesn’t have any sense of humor. This was known to me in the 70s and was written specifically for “The Pill” researchers. I worked for a company that made birth control pills and birth control devices. PhDs in Pharmaceutical Science raved at this humor. I couldn’t remember the reference, so I Googled it. Have no idea why the original article didn’t pop up.

          • Cojones

Unbelievable. We have crossed paths. I first read it at the same time and in the exact same setting (same industry, same “The Pill” company and given to me by the same PhDs with a sense of humor). Chicago?

            • Dog in Fla

If he says Ferkessédougou, I’m not believing it

              • Cojones

Their hospital looks like a Mayo Clinic when compared to Belize. In Belize City the sidewalk/walkup slabs individually look like an earthquake rearranged each one. The two stories are characterized by laundry lines on each balcony with long lines of laundry hanging across the courtyard below. I was told locally that ,when anyone got admitted, patients then became squatters and began living there. The U.S. Embassy is shuttered and with iron bars on all window and door openings. A long gray ghetto is across the street from both.

If you get sick there, get flown out. To Ferkessedougou.

                Feeling any better now, Senator?

                • Dog in Fla

“The U.S. Embassy is shuttered and with iron bars on all window and door openings.”

                  A bad case of Belizeghazi?

          • Cojones

Try their archives (since it was written in the late 60s).

  52. Dog in Fla

May the sunshine of risk management shine brightly on you, your surgical team and your post-op care coordinator. Be sure to check your itemized because I saw on a TV documentary once that what leaves the candy machine may not stay with the customer

  53. WF Dawg

Best wishes, Senator. ‘Preciate all you do. We’ll be right here when you come back, mocking the trolls and fretting about the secondary.

    Tomorrow’s partial thread:

We’ve lost a good BBall player. Adios, Brandon.

  55. Joe

Best of luck Senator. I’ve had the joy of a three WEEK hospital stay and have made it a personal goal to never go back again. Here’s hoping nothing too interesting happens in the SEC while you’re on the DL. Your snark would be missed were that the case.

  56. Charles

Thanks so much for all you do here! All the best for a swift and comfortable recovery!

  57. RevDawg

Praying that God will use the surgeons, Drs, nurses, techs, et al as instruments of healing in His hands for a full & speedy recovery! Sounds like you are taking upon yourself the 2014 injuries meant for the Dawgs that we might enjoy an injury free season. The ultimate in a sacrifice for all of DawgNation!

  58. pantslesspatdye

On an admistrative note, who is going to do the Kang’s show prep? That dude might as well take some vacation time.

  59. Brad

Penis reduction is SOOO much easier these days. Get well soon.

  60. americusdawg

Best of luck to you! It’ll be boring without your posts and the replies.

  61. Get well and rest up and be ready to go August 30th. We need ya healthy for the whole season.

  62. Cosmic Dawg

Have a safe and successful operation, Senator – the entire Cosmic Dawg Brigade, including the Cosmic Dawg Band, the Cosmic Dawg Dancers, the Cosmic Dawg Youth Trail Scouts, the Cosmic Dawg Picnic Operation Support Team, and the Cosmic Dawg Legal Defense Fund will be sending our thoughts and prayers.

Seriously, we’ll all be pulling for ya.

If the hospital meds don’t help, you can always reach out to Nick Marshall.

    • 81Dog

just make sure Nick re-routes his delivery so as not to travel through Reynolds. When I heard he’d been stopped, my first thought was “I wonder if Nick was jake braking?”

      • Dog in Fla

Are manual transmissions available for Dodge Chargers? I only thought they came with the ‘legendary’ Mopar TorqueFlite ™ automatics (if a Chrysler automatic can be legendary) but maybe even the downshift of that is capable of jake braking but if so, he certainly would have got a stern talking to

“The Reynolds, Georgia police chief says he had a stern talk with Marshall.

“I explained to Nick that I was really disappointed in him,” Chief Lonnie Holder told WRBL News 3. “I told him that there are a million kids that look up to him. He is a role model whether he wants to be or not. I was disappointed that we have athletes out there doing that. I explained to him that we are not going to treat him any differently. I was disappointed in him. I hope he learns from his mistake and this puts him on the right path.”

Holder says Marshall was very somber in his reply.

“He was very regretful,” Holder explained. “He was very respectful. He was very apologetic. He seemed like he was disappointed in himself. He did get a little teary eyed as we had the conversation. I think sometimes what those kids need, they need somebody to talk to them and say, hey, you made a mistake, don’t let it happen anymore.”

        • 81Dog

I’ve handled plenty of cases in Taylor County over the years. I don’t recall anyone in Reynolds getting released with a citation for a misdemeanor marijuana charge before. Make of that what you will.

  64. BosnianDawg

Good luck, senator. Hope all goes well and you have a quick and painless recovery!

  65. Debby Balcer

Praying for complete healing for you.

  66. Just Chuck (the other one)

Gotta take care of yourself. We understand and will miss you.

  67. Mayor

This sounds awfully suspicious. Is this a precursor to taking a “Medical Hardship Scholarship” to free up space on this blog? Don’t do it-no matter how much pressure they put on you!!

  68. RobG

    I hope everything goes well.

  69. Dawg in Austin

Good luck and take it slow, mon. But don’t stay longer than you need. Looking forward to the next post.

  70. Get well soon, Senator! Thanks for all you do.

  71. Reservoir Dawg

    I feel rudderless, like, already.

  75. LorenzoDawgriquez

Get well and don’t listen if anyone from BALCOR says they have meds that will speed up recovery.

  76. Tim Rankine

Pics or it didn’t happen :)

  77. Athens Townie

Get better soon, Sir. We’ll look forward to having you back.

  78. I am lost in the abyss of no Senator posts….awash in emptiness…

    • AthensHomerDawg

I can help. As of now, I am in control here, at Get the PIcture, upon the return of the Senator Blutarsky and in close touch with him. If something came up, I would check with him, of course.
Please add your comments: Last Man Standing is—>

  81. The Bruce

    Get well soon.

  82. Timphd

    I blame Bobo.

  83. Goat Balls

This really sucks. What the hell are we supposed to do for these four or five days? Spurrier is probably somehow plotting our demise and we don’t even know about it because the Senator is being held against his will at the obamacare death camp.

And furthermore, I had just upgraded to the premium Senators subscription, the one with the cheerleader pictures.

  84. Dawglicious

    Get well soon!

  85. DugLite

I’m drinking the kool aid from SEC Media days. I need a slap back to reality!!!

  86. No One Knows You're a Dawg

Little late on this, but hope you’er doing well and have a quick recovery.

  87. Barry

So did you coordinate your surgery with the O’Bannon trial too? Get better soon.

    • Macallanlover

Come on man, first three day break we have had from O’Bannon in over a year. Was finally able to focus on field related issues of football for a change. I am actually starting to like, and believe, in the Kool Aide. The team and staff seem to have a quiet confidence that has me dreaming of Atlanta.

      • Dog in Fla

I had a dream too. I dreamed I was as light as the ether- a drifting floating spirit visiting things to come. The shades and shadows of the people in my life wrestled their way their way into my slumber. I dreamed that O’Bannon had voluntarily dismissed his complaint. And then I dreamed on, into the future, to a Christmas morn in Arizona watching Hudson’s progress from afar, taking pride in his accomplishments as if he were our own. Wondering if he ever thought of us and hoping that maybe we’d broadened his horizons a little even if he couldn’t remember just how they got broadened or why there were so many little kids around and how did they get over that wall. And it seemed real. It seemed like, well, a Kool-Aide infused sugar-high dream. If not Arizona, then a land not too far away. Where all fans are strong and wise and capable and all players are happy and beloved. I don’t know. Maybe it was Utah.

        • Macallanlover

You are just dreaming about getting to Zona so you can build a campfire for all those squatters streaming across the border (which doesn’t appear to be an actual border any longer.

          PS–I prefer—-Maybe It Was Memphis.

          • Dog in Fla

Pam’s going to need a bigger guitar because they’ll be streaming across the Mississippi

            all the way from Memphis

  88. Union Jack

Prayers for a speedy recovery and hope you a feeling better soon!
