Gator haterz

Shelley Meyer is tired of those mean message board people.

“Well, what I learned was that Florida fans, there’s a lot of them and people want to brag on their team,” she told the website. “They want to be able to brag on their team. Now, when we first went down there and we were winning and we were winning those national championships, Urban was the best thing ever.”

And now?

“But here is my perception (about Florida fans): I think they feel like they were kind of left at the altar. They feel a betrayal, even though they were so mad at him about how our last season (2010) went. You can’t please them…

“… So, the people who are critical of us, it’s not the people who know us. It’s the people who aren’t even around the program. They just want their team to win, and whoever can get their team to win, that’s who they’re for. And if you can’t do it or if you left them, then they’ll hate you.”

In other words, Gator fans, you shouldn’t take things so personally.  Because you know Coach “Seat 37F” never did.

Living down here among the lizards, I can say that the average sidewalk alumni would have fired Will at the end of last year. Since they don’t contribute much in the way of dollars they were ignored. Foley has built up a lot of credits due to the Urban hire but it will all be gone at the end of this year if the Gators stumble again. (by stumble I mean 8-4 if UGA or UT are included in the 4). I think the Gator fans know that FSU will beat the heck out of them so that doesn’t even count. They also expect to lose to Alabama and LSU.

Are you ever surprised by anything that comes out of the Snake Farm? Kind of like the conventional wisdom on Nazareth, nothing good ever came from there. Agent Muschamp is doing a good job of beating their egos back into place. They are at the delusional stage these days.

  3. Psssst Shelley – the OSU fans aren’t different.

That’s right, ask Kirk “I had to move to Nashville to be away from these crazies” Herbstreit.

Don’t get me started on Gordon “Glad he doesn’t fire me” Gee, tats or their band!

You just have to overlook the “new” FU fans, much like the recent Bama bandwagoners, there is just no perspective, they really think they are “all that”. Hey, good programs when things are sunny and rosey but every Dawg has his day. If you aren’t in a tailspin of sorts, you will be and then you had better like the taste of crow. Happens to every sports team I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Trash talking is so low-class, made for losers, but we see more of it now than ever before. It isn’t just Yankees that act badly anymore, the words “genteel” and “civil” can not be applied much anymore in the South. I have become my parents and long for the “good old days”.

Mike, where are you? Sincerely, I’d like to hear from a true Gator fan than listen to rednecks on the street. What’s you perspective on fans vs Meyer and/or Muschamp? How can fans be angry at Meyer (as they should be) leaving them high and dry with personnel not fitted to proper positions, yet be sullen toward Muschamp, who they reasoned early on, had an uphill battle to get them out of the dumpster? That battle was interrupted with the same injury affliction as UGA to the point that we lost 5 games to teams that we had previously beaten with regularity. But we understood what happened. Are the ignorant FU redneck fans dominating the true FU fan’s patience in seeing that the ship is righted?

My experience with FU grads that I know and talk to is kinda a mixed bag. The more the grad closely follows his team, the more patient he seems. The ones who don’t follow closely (and lose money to me as well) seem to share the same zeal for pitchforks and nooses as the ignorant rednecks. After all, they were the initiators of the online “Fire Ron Zook” meme that set another record for crassness that they are known for. The latest fan insensitivity down there is labeling players that go elsewhere (for any reason) as “Rats leaving the sinking ship”. Nice.

    Boogers.

  7. Hogbody Spradlin

Blutarsky, would that be ‘Corch “Seat 37F”’?

Why’s everybody always picking on Erving

      • Hogbody Spradlin

A new permutation. Not bad. Not bad.

Thanks. I’d like to take full credit for it but I can’t take any. It all has to go to Cosmic who suggested it a few days ago in the thread in which you were assisting (and I for one value that assistance) on how one should spell the name of corch

Ya know, and, golly, I hope nobody takes this as mean, but fuck Dickhead and Dickhead’s whiny-ass wife, too.

I am really sorry Dickhead could not take the pressure at Florida, cause I loved the Annual Dickhead Head Explosion Countdown, which was not meant to be mean to Mr. and Mrs. Dickhead, but more like a genuine concern for Dickhead and his family, especially his children who missed they daddy so much.

Oh, and Mrs. Dickhead, would you please get back to us when Dickhead loses to Michigan, about how nice the TOSU fans are?

Nice to know whining is part of the Dickhead family dna,

  9. It’s funny when a coach (or his wife) – especially one who spent only two years as head coach at each of his two previous stints before moving on to bigger and better – lectures about loyalty.

If I remember correctly, Urbz tried to quit because he lost in his last, best shot with the Gators, blaming his health. Foley “encouraged” him to stay for one more year, which ended up showing the cracks in the armor and foretold of a serious downward spiral for the program. Instead of staying to turn things around, he left to “spend more time with his kids.” He promptly got a job with ESPN so he could stay in the influential circles, traveled around all season long doing “analysis,” and then took the first prime job that came calling within the year, kids and family be damned. At tOSU, he recruited Florida commits that he had previous recruiting relationships with and reported unproven recruiting violations against Florida.

Yes, please tell me about this loyalty of which you speak… where being somewhere 12 years is some unfathomable number of years to spend in one place.

  10. Hey, Shel, go eat some sad, cold, pizza.
