In posting about the emerging point shaving scandal involving Toledo, I wondered whether there were really many gamblers who craved action so much that even betting on Toledo would be attractive.

Turns out there are.

I should have realized why:

Mr. Campbell said the MAC, with its frequent midweek, nationally televised games, attracted many gamblers.

“College football is the most visible sport, and with Toledo playing on Tuesdays and Thursday nights, it was the only game going, so sports gamblers paid real close attention,” he said.
