Practice stories: a tale of two freshmen

Haverkamp is down with a recurring ankle injury, Richt sounds uncertain about his status, Clint Boling moves over to starting right guard… and Bruce Figgins, who’s been out with a leg injury, now has a “high percentage chance of playing” this year. Sorry, but that’s not a coincidence.

And then there’s Vance Cuff, who, in the short space of a couple of weeks, has gone from not being sure he’d even be allowed to attend UGA to this:

“I’d say right now we’re leaning toward playing Vance,” Richt said Monday. “He’s a very good cover guy, he’s tough, he’s very athletic. Sometimes freshmen kinda get in the tank somewhere along the way (in camp). So far he’s competed every day.”

Sure, I don’t doubt that the Remarcus Brown suspension played into his thinking, but still, that’s nothing short of astounding.

And as always, for more practice info than may be good for you, read David Ching’s blog religiously.
