Dawg fans, your new road broadcast crew for 2007 is… Scott Howard and Eric Zeier.
I’ll give ’em the benefit of the doubt, but initially this strikes me as a bland choice at best. I’d also assume these guys have a leg up on the whole enchilada once Munson retires for good. I don’t think he’ll have to worry about being overshadowed.
Meanwhile, I’ll pine for my first choice.

I would love Frankline as well, but isn’t the Georgia job a pretty big step back from what he is doing now? What do you think they pay Munson and what do you think someone of Franklin’s caliber would command? He is the best though no doubt. It would be awesome to have him calling what should be some of the Dawgs best years under CMR in 2008 and 2009.
What needs to be done in order to get the bug in Evans ear that Franklin is somebody that Dawg fans would like?

I’m not sure how much of it’s a step back at this point, as ESPN relegates Franklin lower down the broadcast chain each year. And I wouldn’t even care if Franklin continued to broadcast for ESPN on days when Georgia wasn’t playing.
But, honestly, this looks like a done deal. When Munson retires, unless someone has acted inappropriately (no comments about women’s undergarments, for example), these guys will become the permanent team.
They’re certainly not offensive, but I doubt they’re anything special, either. Hopefully they’ll grow into the job.

I’ve not really heard Zier do anything so I’m not really going to judge him at this point. Senator use your connections to get Evans on the phone and tell him the Dawg Nation wants Franklin.
