The effects go back several series. With 4 minutes left, does Saban still take the field goal knowing that a 3-and-out is almost essential to get the ball back? Does Nutt run the ball on third down (something he probably should have done anyway) knowing that the clock will continue to run after third down and then again when Bama gets the ball back?
