Some random Sunday tidbits

I’m bored.

  • Clemmins offensive coordinator Rob Spence gives us a sample of his recruiting spiel to let us know that the NFL hates spread option quarterbacks. (h/t The Wizard of Odds)
  • The Taylor Zarzour story gets wackier.  “My profession is 100 times more important to me than any team I may have followed growing up.” Maybe those fifteen minutes aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.
  • Remember when Urban Meyer was telling us that Percy Harvin’s rehab was ahead of schedule?  Now “there’s a chance” Harvin may play in the season opener next Saturday.  It’s a good thing that Harvin’s not a left tackle – the national media would be freaking out about now.

Ouch.

This is a nasty quote on so many levels about the OBC and the program he leads:

At least one of his former players isn’t so sure Spurrier will be at South Carolina in 2012 if he doesn’t start winning in 2008.

“I think this is a defining year for him,” former Florida wide receiver Chris Doering says. “If South Carolina doesn’t make some strides toward becoming more relevant in the SEC, I don’t know how much longer that job will hold his interest.”

UPDATE: Then again, there are always plenty of Kool-Aid drinkers.

When the light went on.

David Paschall looks at Stafford’s career to date and sees the Auburn ’06 game as a marker.

… After arriving as a heralded Texas gunslinger, he often forced throws and wound up with 12 interceptions and only four touchdowns through his first nine games.

Beginning with that ’06 win at Auburn, however, he has thrown 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and has led the Bulldogs to a 14-2 record.
