Thursday morning buffet

Feel free to pick and choose, folks.

  • Sticks and stones may break his bones, but haters will never hurt the GPOOE™.
  • Yes, I’d say that going from a $15,000 application fee to $1 million is “substantial”.
  • Is Charlie Strong underpaid?
  • Like most, I’m not a big fan of the SEC’s new media protocol, but this post strikes me as a wee bit over the top.
  • Which surprises you more here – #1 or #6?  (By the way, if CFN’s assessment here is correct, the game in Stillwater won’t be close.)
  • Jon Solomon looks at the jockeying going on amongst the bowls with tie-ins to the SEC.  Surprise:  money will be involved in the final decision.
  • Even in the wake of this, nobody’s talking about Mitch Mustain.

If those rankings are even close to accurate (and there’s some question as to whether they are), I like the chances of our #10 defense against their #1 offense and our #6 offense against their #56 defense.

On a side note, does anybody else think its going to be a “big deal” that Florida’s offense is only rated #4?

Goofy list by CFN. Apparently, they don’t take into consideration that those high-powered Big 12 offenses play in a league where the defense is so bad, it’s hard to tell how good they really are. And we certainly don’t belong that high, IMO.

    Senator,
I love your posts. This has nothing to do with this post but I wanted to bring it to your attention before commenting elsewhere….

I understand Bobo is trying to keep the fans in check but I think we could have a great line right now…

    ———-

For the first week of preseason practice, Georgia has had a consistent first-team offensive line of Sturdivant, Chris Davis, Ben Jones, Cordy Glenn and Clint Boling. Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said Vince Vance and Justin Anderson are also pushing for playing time.

“You can kind of see us coming together,” Bobo said. “The more those guys play together, the more they get used to each other, the better you become as a group and have more continuity. We have the ability to have a good offensive line. If we can stay together and stay healthy, in a couple of years, we could be great.”

In a couple of years, Boling won’t be there and neither will Chris Davis and Vince Vance. Yes, the more you play together the more you gel, but come on….

These guys could be great now.

    Anyway, thanks for your site.

Tim Tebow not focused on “the haters” of the Florida Gators football team
By Antonya English, Times Staff Writer

GAINESVILLE — QB Tim Tebow has been on nearly every preseason magazine cover all summer, has graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, and had a ”Sunday Night Conversation” on ESPN….And if some people are starting to feel like there’s too much Tebow all the time, don’t expect Tebow to apologize…. [Tim Tebow carefully and patiently explains to Antonya in English what has for many decades been known as an obvious point] well you know there’s going to be haters just like everything, just like haters of the University of Florida. You have to deal with that.”

Which brings up the age-old recurring questions were they asked and partially answered by the Corch in his next ‘Haters – Do You Have Them? How To Be an Interviewee and Is Tim Tebow Perfect?’ short sermon preaching about Tim Tebow and, of course, all the usual suspect haters:

Is Tim Tebow perfect? No he is not. Tim Tebow is pluperfect! But only with my five linemen and, of course, with me, Urban Meyer. In fact, Tim Tebow is even beyond pluperfect whatever that would be and they haven’t invented a name for it yet when measured by what someone going under the name of Matt Patchan might have said had he, instead of Tim Tebow, been the interviewee:

People are getting their Tebow-hate out of the way now because, let’s face it, no one really hates backup TEs in the NFL.

So, if A.J. is one of the reasons UGA’s offense ranks 6th, how come they rate our receivers 31st?

Guess they haven’t heard of Durham, O. Charles, Moore, T. King, etc, or any of our tight ends.

Well you know how it is. Same old story.

#2 WR recruit in the country AJ Green
#2 WR recruit in the country Marlon Brown
Two Top 5 TE Recruits in Charles and Lynch

And ranked below SMU in Receiving Unit rankings.

Somebody needs to take that bottle of glue away from the CFN staff.

Yes Charlie is under paid. Without him, they do not win the last two championships. Fla continues to treat him poorly and you have to ask why.
