The downside of testosterone

Poor old Mike Gundy.  He’s got the biggest opening game of his career coming up in a couple of weeks with Georgia and he can’t get his charges to pay attention.  Why?  Because they’re men and they’re twenty.

… The start of school brings new demands and diversions.

“The most difficult thing we’re doing right now, or trying to do, is keep them focused and concentrated on preparing to play the game,” said OSU coach Mike Gundy.

“You’ve got 19,000 students here. You’ve got a lot of cute girls out there. There’s a lot of things going on. Guys have to focus. We’re trying to reel them in.”

In an effort to re-focus his squad, Gundy has halted media access to the team until Aug. 31, the Monday of game week.

As for the co-eds, there’s no easy answer.

“There’s a lot of distractions right now,” Gundy said. “Because we can’t keep them in camp. They’re out there on campus. There’s a lot going on right now.”

Womens.  You can’t win with them…

3/4s of that story is inaccurate. It’s fiction. Get your facts straight. It makes me embarrassed to be involved with athletics.

If you have a child someday, you’ll understand how it feels. But you obviously don’t have a child.

Where are we at in society today where you can downgrade a kid for doing everything right? You want to downgrade a kid for looking at beautiful women on campus then say he’s not coming focused to practice? THAT AIN’T TRUE!!

That’s why I don’t read the newspapers. Because it’s garbage.

    Makes me wanna puke.

As that great philosopher Norm said at Cheers, “Women, you can’t live with them … pass the beer nuts.”

It’s tough out there for a pimp.

“Still, that doesn’t mean the Pokes have tunnel vision.”

Which may mean some tunnels could be at risk of having the Poke experience. If you hear or see the distant early warning system, circle the Conestogas cute co-eds, because the saltpeter’s not working in Stillwater…again.

The “cute girls” must be planted by a UGA man, trying to get a leg up on the Pokes.

No way in hell there are any cute girls out there.

But isn’t there a risk that they could become cute late at night at Eskimo Joes?

No, there are no cute girls up north (well few) but Oklahoma is just north of Texas, and I don’t think I have to say anymore about that.

Is that why they call them the “pokes”?

Somehow I feel like having to close practice to try and re-focus your unfocused team isn’t the most ringing endorsement of a team that we’re going to face in week 1, looking to make a statement.

Can’t they arrange to have conjugal visits once a week and tell the guys, “forget all those girls on campus during the week, we’ll hook you up at the end of the week if you get enough gold stars during practice”? I mean, that’s what they did at Colorado, right?
