Here’s a challenge for y’all. Without using the intergoogles, try to remember how long it has been since we got a win over someone like the win UT got on us this weekend; you know, just really beating someone down from the conference that we weren’t favored to beat or dominating a game that was supposed to be very close.
Now try to remember how many times that we have been the recipients of a similar beating not including this past week.

(a) Against LSU in a SEC Championship game a long time ago.
(b) Plus or minus 6 times being the beatee since then…

Without deploying intergoggles, my guess is:
(a) 3 – Win v. LSU in a SEC Championship game a long time ago. Daytime win at Auburn with bombs away Stafford when Auburn was ranked #5, I think. Night home blackout win v. someone, Auburn I think, with dancing to Soulja Boy tunes.
(b) 6 – 3 beatdowns from last year. 2 earlier ones administered by Tennessee under Cutcliffe and for good measure, I’ll throw in another one from some team that my memory is blank on.

On (b) since the 05 SECCG, UT has done it the most times (06, 07 & 09). Bama and UF last year.

Auburn 06 and 07. We were heavy underdogs going into Auburn in 06 and the 07 game was supposed to be close (definitely not a 25-point spread). But I get your point, I was just trying to answer the question.

We must also take under consideration that the beatings we take probably stick with us a little more deeply than the wins because as UGA fans we think even expect, however unrealistically, that we will emerge victoriously after every week. The wins fade more quickly because we were “supposed to win.”
Willie F. $kilz commented to me, as we watched the carnage pile up and the Vol fans dance in the stands, that he hates watching other people feel the way he’s supposed to be feeling. Yeah. Me, too.
It sticks with you… and it tastes bad.

In the post-Greene/Pollack Era:
2005
Administered- Boise State (for OOC’s sake), @ UT, SECCG against a hapless Les Miles and LSU
Administered to- None
2006
Administered- @ Auburn, @ USC sorta
Administered to- UT
2007
Administered- Florida, Auburn, Hawai’i (if you were to listen to ESPN)
Administered to- @ UT
2008
Administered- @ LSU
Administered to- Bama, Florida
2009
Administered- None
Administered to- @ UT
So, in the post-Greene/Pollack Era, Richt has dished out a surprising can of whoopass 9 times, and has had one administered to him 5 times.

“3 beatdowns from last year.”
45-42 isn’t a beatdown. A 3-point loss is a 3-point loss, no matter how bad the D is.

Agreed. GT ’08 and WVU in the Sugar Bowl feel like beat downs to me because of the nature of the losses, but they don’t qualify no matter how much people bitch about them.

Sadly Senator your most reserved, least explanatory post gets you your fame. Kind of sounds like a certain football team whose colors I bleed.
