Hell hath no fury…

like an assistant coach crapped on.

In the previous 48 hours, Lane Kiffin had left Tennessee for USC, escaped an angry mob in Knoxville and stumbled through a withering inquisition in Los Angeles, and still Thompson hadn’t heard from him.

But even he couldn’t feel as bad as another of the assistants led to Tennessee and left behind. Thompson said Kiffin didn’t tell David Reaves he was leaving, either.

And Reaves is Kiffin’s brother-in-law.

“He saw it on TV,” Thompson said.

So what would Thompson say to Kiffin given the opportunity?

“I would tell him, ‘Congratulations, but I’m looking forward to the day that we play.’

“I don’t care where I’m at. I’m always going to be looking for the day we play Lane Kiffin.”

Wouldn’t you like to be a fly on the wall at the next Reaves family get together?  Should be some fun times…

My opinion of Junior was so low it is hard to believe it could get lowered but this takes it to a new level. Damn, just damn.

That is an interesting note at in the comments block about Kiffin Sr. just pocketing a $300K retention bonus two weeks before leaving. I have lost all respect for him as well.

If Coach O did break the contract rules as all the evidence indicates, did he break them as a UT coach or a USC coach? Who could get penalized? You would think UT would be more than willing to cooperate with that investigation.

UT ought to try to get the $300K back. As to Coach O, I have always been amazed at how coaches can violate the rules, change jobs and skate responsibility. Absolutely pathetic.

Location: USC Head Coach Guest Penthouse Suite Condo in Graduate Student Housing, Malibu

As the fog burns off the Pacific this morning (and it takes longer to burn off the Pacific than it does off the Tennessee River), Lane is hard at work polishing up his street cred in Malibu

Lane is interrupted by a tweet from Mike Garrett informing Lane that he forgot to tell some, well almost all, of his Tennessee assistant coaches including brother-in-law and Lance that Lane was going to be away from Knoxville for awhile.

Lane directs Mike Garrett to issue the following quote from Lane to the media in response to all Lane’s haters:

“I think the world of Norm or my brother-in-law or Lance or whoever it is that’s jealous of my success now. And I don’t have any issues with Norm or my brother-in-law or Lance or whoever it is.”

It’ll likely look something like this

Look, he left David Reeves in a better position than when he found him. Lane is great person, that’s why David is mad at him.
