Reading this David Hale post from the weekend reinforced something that’s been in the back of my mind since Coach Grantham first discussed his scheme and defensive approach: watch out for Cornelius Washington this coming season.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Senator,
I think you mean Cornwallis. But I’m with you!

I would say watch out for CW regardless of what scheme your running, the man’s a beast! He and Houston will bring the funk in ’10!

I agree. He will be a first round pick at OLB.

His old coach told me the same thing last week.

It is good to hear a coach mention words like “gap” and “lane”. Did not mention a player. Good to hear a coach say “your edge guys”, “guys that can set the edge”, “play over the TE”, and “pass rush”. Did not mention a player. Good to hear a coach say “take players you have” and “fit them to your system”. [think that means roster and future roster]. Good to hear a coach say “create mismatches” and “one-on-ones”. Did not mention a player. Thanks coach…hopefully we do not hear this “stack the line” and “in the box” anymore, whatever that means. Could be one guy who will flourish…Rambo. I think back to JAX and watching Curran as a frosh track down Harvin. Think back how UF used their TEs against the SEC and everybody else in 09…except against Bama. Get the picture…lanes, gaps, and edges.
