Damn. Just, damn.

I couldn’t bring myself to post yesterday on the tragedy that is Rajaan Bennett’s senseless death because I felt inadequate in being able to express something meaningful about the random perversity of human nature, particularly in the context of a situation where I have no personal knowledge of the family or Bennett himself.  A day later, that feeling hasn’t changed, so I’ll simply leave it for you to listen to Coach Johnson talk about the loss, if you haven’t heard him already.

I graduated from McEachern in ’97, and still live in Powder Springs. Out around town yesterday, it seemed that there was a dark cloud over everything. A sensless act of violence. By all accounts he was a fine young man, not just a great football player.

If people insist upon pointing a gun at someone and pulling the trigger, I’d rather they turn the gun on themselves BEFORE killing someone else rather than after.

This really points out the unfunny of Gilbert Arenas’s “joke.”

Coach Johnson is a class act. This “eulogy” shows a lot about the man.

  4. Bobby Johnson is a class act, and more importantly, Godspeed Rajaan Bennett.
