All I want.

In response to this poll, I can honestly say that I don’t care what the next mascot looks like as long as he’s got some of this in him:

    I was at that game, sitting in SEC 46, directly across from where this happened. I think that player was Robert Baker, who was later arrested for dealing coke. I believe Georgia came back and won that game in O.T. after Auburn had a big lead…not one of my fondest memories as an Auburn man, but that move by UGA and subsequent photo is one of my favorite college game experiences..and I have been to many, many ballgames..Damn Good Dawg,…. hope Sonny can find a replacement to carry on as well as THAT UGA!

      One of my favorite pics/memories too. Is it your recollection Uga was reacting to someone running close to him or that Baker was taunting him with the ball? I have heard both and the video isn’t clear on that.

        I was in the Redcoats at that game. My recollection is that we were getting our butts handed to us in the first half, but in the second quarter, we noticed that Uga started barking constantly. We’d kind of elbow each other, point at him, and go, “Hey! What’s got him all riled up (and why isn’t the team)?” Then, the touchdown happened; Baker (from our view) intentionally went over to Uga (although his momentum was carrying him close) and was, I think, getting ready to taunt him when It Happened. 😉 What a game…

    Robert wasn’t taunting him, he was just kinda running too close. As I remember it, Robert just did jump backward in time to not be renamed Roberta.

    By the way, when are you guys gonna let that dog run out on Jordan Hare during the pregame flight?

      … Auburn running back Robert Baker can attest to Uga’s on-field abilities as well. After catching a six-yard touchdown pass to put Auburn ahead 14-7 at the end of the first quarter of the 1996 Georgia-Auburn game, Baker celebrated in front of Uga V. The mascot in red and black would have none of that, and snapped at the unsuspecting, dancing Baker.

      Seiler says Uga V had every right to leap at the running back. “Let me tell you what really happened,” she says, suddenly looking very serious. “(Baker) was taunting Uga. He spiked the ball too close and Uga didn’t like that one bit. Then he did what he did.”
