The only thing I can add at this point to the Mettenberger dismissal story is that I’m afraid it puts the kibosh on this. That’s a shame.

Am I the only one hoping that there is more to the story? I would never want something like that on anyone, but getting the boot b/c of something stupid that a college kid did? Something that nearly everyone did at some point but just happened to get lucky?
I wish Mett the best no matter what. He definitely had the arm to be a great QB, so I hope he can move on and be successful (unless he happens to play against us one Saturday, of course)

I agree there must be more to it than has been reported, but the truth is that all we can do is speculate, and speculation tends to be a twisted path that leads nowhere; at least, nowhere good. Richt has not detailed the reasons and that may be a consideration to Mett and his family as much as anything. We just have to trust CMR.

I would guess Met wasn’t forthcoming about all the details.
As an aside, the overwhelming majority of these arrests are consistent (IMHO) of a large group of guys at UGA. Most fraternity houses at Georgia (over a 3 year period) have a similar # of alcohol, assault and traffic issues. The domestic one is uncharacteristic, but that kid has serious issues and probably hit the high water achievement mark of his life 1/2 way through the Kentucky game. But hell, some kid from Clemson was kidnapped and beaten by a bunch of rich crazy frat kids.
This doesn’t excuse it. But Georgia is a large school with an active night life and a police force that doesn’t cover for jocks. I’ve visited schools where you couldn’t find a good time if you brought an 8-ball, Tommy Lee & Joslyn James.

Chuck Oliver says he’s hearing that Mett got the boot because he lied to coach Richt about what happened. Apparently he was doing some things to a girl at the bar that were not OK, and he got tossed out of the bar, Which is what got him into the deal with the police.
