Another working week draws to an end, so enjoy.
- Mark Richt says the right things about A.J. Green, punt returner.
- The AJ-C’s Georgia Tech beat writer blogs that he’s not sure Tech would want to return to the SEC. The extra money might come in handy for Paul Hewitt’s buyout, though.
- So far, the WWL’s deal with the SEC hasn’t been all that was promised.
- The NCAA looks to impose some new academic rules this fall.
- I’m trying to figure out why the Big East might be stupid enough to be contemplating issuing an ultimatum to Notre Dame, but I’ve got to admit that I love the Machiavellian twist that Holly Anderson supplies.
- On a related note, you can sleep easier tonight knowing that the MAC is on the case.
- I can’t say that I get the point to this exercise.
- It’s Alabama’s and Florida’s world, and the rest of the SEC is just living in it.
Funny that you should put the article about the WWL up the morning after I was flipping channels and found UGA getting brained by LSU in softball on ESPN2.

The Big East gains very little from allowing ND to be a member. They don’t get football, non-revenue sports don’t matter, and they have plenty of basketball powers to get by without them. I’m actually surprised this hasn’t happened sooner. Personally, I can’t wait to see ND try to schedule non-revenue sports without the benefit of a conference.

Why not give ND an ultimatum? They add little value to the league in the grand scheme of things. Meaning, the Big East gains little cash from Irish field hockey, basketball, baseball etc. The league’s revenue for basketball doesn’t decrese with the addition of Xavier, Temple, St. Joes etc to the league and football stays the same moneywise unless ND joins up.

Am I alone in not wanting Tech allowed back in the SEC? Spite is underrated.

It would guarantee us one more conference win a season.

I would love to see them go from a 4 th best team in the ACC (average) to a kentucky level team in the SEC. It would be amusing.

I’m generally against it too, but if they ended up in the SEC again, it would free up some of our non-conference flexibility and maybe allow us to resume the natural Clemson annual rivalry game (unless they join the megasuperexpanded SEC too…)

Fuck tech. They left and they can’t come back. Stupid bastards.

No to Tech in the SEC. We don’t need to add any schools who can’t, or doesn’t bother to matriculate girls.
Pre-requesite for admission to the SEC should be: The student body loves football, the guys chase girls and the girls like it that way.

I’m torn on the issue of whether I’d like to see Yech back in the SEC. On the one hand, I’d hate to give the nerds any kind of recruiting assistance. The opportunity to play in the nation’s elite conference is definitely a recruiting advantage. On the other hand, I would love to see our rivalry actually mean something again. I hate hearing young UGA fans say UF is our biggest rival. Beating Yech doesn’t seem like much until you’ve endured losing to them. But I don’t see what the Trade School would really add to the conference. That’s why I’d much rather see us add Texas if we could get them. They have way more prestige and we’d only be extending the footprint by one state.
