Dig in, people.
- A couple of Georgia football players have a baseball itch they want to scratch this summer.
- Junior is the gift that keeps on giving, bless his heart.
- Dennis Dodd has Mark Richt on a bubble instead of a hot seat, whatever that means.
- Give Tommy Tuberville credit for one thing – he’s got plenty of experience running a football program trying to overcome a dysfunctional administration.
- Porn and Peach Bowl tickets… man, those MMS inspectors could be bought pretty cheaply.
- I suspect A.J. Green will grace the covers of a few preseason mags this year. (h/t Marc Weiszer)
- You tell me what school came to mind first when you saw the header to this article. (h/t Smart Football)
This whole hotseat/warmseat thing is BS. South Carolina fire Spurrier? Come on. Mike Gundy is the winningest coach the Pokes have ever had. Derek Dooley has yet to coach a single game and has comported himself admirably (unlike his predecessor) since arriving at UT. These guys were given the same score as CMR a score of 3 out of 5. None of them even should be on any kind of radar for losing a job. Their score (using Dodd’s system) should be 1 or less, especially CMR who AVERAGES 10 wins a year.

I don’t know about Dooley. There is a lot of reason to believe that the circumstances put UT in a position where they had to hire somebody. Dooley was no doubt the best available at the time. But I don’t think that means they are married to him for any particular time. Kind of a shotgun wedding, really. I think Dooley better know how to cook like mama or a divorce is in the future, especially if some hot new thing becomes available at a convenient time.
As far as CMR, I have about decided that the reason he gets mentioned is that he is the dean of the SEC coaching community, and the shelf life of SEC coaches isn’t that long on average. People are just looking at the numbers history, and betting that they will be right about CMR sooner or later.

Hey look – someone in the national media who does not have Mark Richt on the hot seat!

I just wish that we had commercials that look like they were produced in the recent decade.

You’d think with the Peabody Awards in our back pocket we could get a halfway competent director to produce it too

Richt and Miles both at a 3? Right along with Tom O’Brien a coach who has a sub-.500 record at NCSU. That was the one that stood out the most to me. 2 guys who have been successful, have 8-5 as a “bad season” have the same job security as a guy whose best season is 6-7?
Makes sense.

8-5 at UGA and LSU is roughly equivalent to 6-7 at NC State, and if you are honest, you know that is true. NC State isn’t even that good of a basketball school.

NCSU’s irrelevance as an athletic program is pretty surprising when you think of it. The school is big and plays in a rapidly growing metro area and in a BCS conference. Football ever since the middle of the last century has been second banana for everyone in that state, but in terms of basketball, the Pack play in a professional arena and have two national championships to their credit. And yet, general suck across the board.

Take a second look at the column about Kiffin. Spurrier still has a little piss and vinegar left in him.
