A few Father’s Day nibbles for you:
- Bryce Brown, come home.
- LSU has a full 85-scholarship roster, only nine players graduating and eleven verbal commitments for next year’s class. Something’s gotta give.
- The dumbest man in Congress thinks the Big XII’s survival means the BCS is doomed. And he’s not apologizing for it, either.
- Very cool Joe Namath-at-Alabama clip, pump fake and fast release included.
- Forget Phil Steele. Waldorf and Statler give us the real lowdown on this year’s SEC.
- Welcome back, Nick Jones.
It’s interesting to me how tight the TV picture used to be, on the Joe Namath clips. I guess with the larger screens and higher resolutions of today’s TVs they can give you more of the action.

Senator, as long as Hank “I fear Guam may tip over and capsize” Johnson is out there, I think dumbest man in Congress is up for grabs.

Google “Joe Barton” and “shade” and then get back with me. 😉

You sure it’s possible to find the superlative in that crowd?

Or google “Joe Barton” and “Seven Chu” and watch that.
Not that what Hank Johnson said wasn’t incredibly stupid, but he at least has the sense to keep his mouth shut most of the time, and not gloat about his ignorance to the media.

When it’s hot you can get in the shade to cool off, that’s true but an island cannot tip over and capsize because too many people are on it. I’m not saying Barton isn’t stupid, heck I’m not even saying Johnson is stupider than Barton, what I’m saying is that as long as Johnson’s around “dumbest person in Congress” is a race that’s too close to call.

I realize that I am hijacking the thread a bit with this but have you been paying attention to how FIFA has been handling the “bad ref” situation presented in the Slovenia-USA World Cup soccer game? This is how a reputable sports organization operates. Suspend the ref and conduct a serious investigation where tapes are reviewed and even other games reffed by the guy are examined. Why didn’t the SEC conduct that type of investigation last year concerning certain refs and all the bad calls they were making, some of which were outcome determinative (like the LSU-UGA game)? Slive only took action when the furor in the media got so bad that the league was getting a black eye. Then all he did was suspend one crew for one game to get the media off his back. No investigation. The SEC does not want to really discover the truth–that either their referees are so incompetent that they shouldn’t even be reffing HS games or that something illegal is going on.

FIFA didn’t suspend the ref. He served as the 4th ref in one of the games that were played yesterday.

That might as well be a suspension, as the 4th ref doesn’t have much responsibility. It’s a huge downgrade from where he was before.
FIFA does take the integrity of their officials seriously, it’s why they have crews from all over the world working the world cup to avoid regional bias in international matches.

FIFA will do nothing to that ref besides slap him on the wrist and make it look like they care. There will be no corrective action taken to prevent those problems from happening again in the future. With all of the cameras and different angles that are on those soccer fields it’s a travesty that there isn’t some sort of instant replay to fix when refs obviously blow a game changing call.
FIFA is definitely no better than the SEC.

While I’m not sure I agree with the idea that FIFA refs should be forced to deal with the public, this does provide a good layout for how World Cup refs are/are not held to some strict accountability, and how ultimately very little is going to change in the course of FIFA refing so these types of mistakes will be allowed to continue.

Noticing a certain slant to the names being put forward as stupider than Joe Barton.
Sometimes I’m upset I don’t get to see the Dawgs in person as much these days. Then on days like this really happy I’m not in the South anymore.
