Like it or not, it doesn’t sound like the Georgia-Florida game will be leaving Jacksonville in the foreseeable future.

      I guess losing to Oklahoma State can now be McGarity’s fault since Damon’s gone. Nevermind a flu-plagued QB, questionable personal foul calls, and mind-boggling offensive playcalling when they couldn’t stop the run. But hey, who wants facts to get in the way of a good argument?

        No, Okie State is still on Damon. Even though I favor moving the game I trust Greg McGarity’s judgment. If he says we should keep the WLOCP game in Jax, let’s try it for another 6 years. If things don’t change, we can look at it then.

            I do not understand the mindset that anyone has an advantage in this game. I live in Jacksonville for the fast three years and if anyone has the advantage I fill its the DAWGS. Our fan base is awesome and they are fired up when they arrive in Jacksonville on Wednesday. Florida folks normally do not show until Saturday the day of the game. We had the advantage back in the 70s and 80s. Its the team that has the midset of it being an advantage Florida.

    Not 20 years… His whole life. He was at Georgia when UGA was winning and went to UF as soon in 91

    I’ve always felt that losing the game has had little to do with the venue. Certainly, fans have a good point about not always getting the neutral treatment from folks in JAX, but that’s probably a side effect of UFaG’s dominance in the last two decades. Also, the point about us spending all of our money down there and it having no benefit for our state is also a good point.

    My point has been and always shall be this: WIN IT. If we win three or four of these things in a row, or just get back to where it’s a .500 proposition down there, then we can move it if it’s still a big concern. I don’t want to tuck tail and run back to campus with the way it’s going now. It’s gonna put the same mark on UGA that it put on Tech when they pussed out and left the SEC.

    OK, let’s say for the sake of argument that the WLOCP is, for all intents and purposes, a true road game. So what?

    Under Richt, we’ve played five true road games in Atlanta, four in Auburn, four in Columbia, two in Tuscaloosa . . . and won all but one of them (against Auburn’s ’04 juggernaut). Hell, we’ve won in hostile stadiums as far away as Baton Rouge, Fayetteville, and Tempe.

    So what’s the common thread in our Florida losses? It ain’t the location, it’s the opponent. Or to look at it another way, what we need to change is not the tags on our players’ luggage but the mindset in their skulls.

    To blame Georgia’s recent subservience to the Gators is to obsess over intangibles to a degree even Kirk Herbstreit would find trifling — it is, quite simply, missing the swamp for the trees. We aren’t going to regain any respect in this rivalry by whining about travel time; we’ll regain it by winning.

    Like
