I think I’ve seen this movie before.

I saw the stats from the Texas-Texas Tech game, but was waiting for somebody to put them in a historical context.

Thank you, Matt Hinton:

… the Red Raiders were held to fewer total yards (144), fewer passing yards (158) and fewer yards per play (2.7) in Saturday night’s 24-14 home loss to Texas than in any single game of Leach’s entire tenure, against anyone, home or away.

In addition the new lows, the Raiders’ output on the ground Saturday (minus-14 yards) was only three yards off the worst rushing effort under Leach, minus-17 yards vs. Texas in 2004, and their 11 first downs were the fewest since back-to-back losses to Oklahoma in 2001 (9 first downs) and 2002 (10). They mounted one sustained scoring drive – the first touchdown came via an interception return by the defense – compared to seven offensive possessions that went three-and-out and three more that ended in turnovers. In almost every respect, with eight returning starters and a fifth-year senior quarterback in a familiar, friendly environment, it was Tech’s worst offensive performance in over a decade.

Tony Franklin would be proud.  Nobody should be surprised.

Welcome to the old SEC Texas Tech.

Hmmm… perhaps less time should have been spent on the effort to lobby for a six-year-old national championship to be awarded to a school which no longer employs you or your staff…

  3. Also interesting that the performance came against his former D coordinator, W. Muschamp.

The extreme low of TTech’s performance against the Horns has something to do with Tubbs, surely. But I’d suggest it has more to do with how strong the Texas D is, which has been awfully fun to watch since Muschamp moved to Austin.

    Hook’em Horns.

    Sic’em Dawgs.

Come on now….really? Leach went up against Muschamp several times with much, much different results. You’re suggesting the variable in this equation (TTU) is actually the control and Muschamp’s D is what changed???

I thought (and still believe) that TT will be successful at TTU. However, if TTU starts losing games I would not want to be the TTU lawyer in front of a Lubbock jury in the case of Leach vs. TTU.

If TTU’s offense is ever deserving of the label “potent” under Tubs, as an Auburn fan I’m going to be highly annoyed. Who will I blame then for all the weak offense I watched during the 2ooo’s?

Maybe Leach can call our plays. Tune the Dawgs in on his living room TV and give him a head set!
