Not all the public talk we’re getting this week centers around the players. Take, for example, this quote of Richt’s from his Tuesday news conference:
… I thought it was interesting that in his news conference Tuesday, Richt talked about Georgia still wanting to run the ball and keep the play-action passing game that hasn’t had much success so far this season, but he also said, “We do have ways to get the ball to our receivers quickly on quick screens. We have screens to our backs. We have ways of throwing quick game if we feel like they have outnumbered the run and we want to get some one-on-one situations. We are still very multiple in what we do.”
Bill King wants to believe there’s a message to Mike Bobo in there. I hope he’s right; otherwise, all it comes off sounding like is a lame defense of the playbook. It does no good to have the plays there if you’re not gonna use them.
Mike Bobo knows how to *have* those plays in his playbook… he just doesn’t know how to *call* those plays.
And that’s really the most important part of the play… the *calling*. Anybody can just *have* them.

Wasn’t that a quick screen to Durham that we scored on 🙂 …and got called back 😦 lol

I was thinking the same thing. That screen was a thing of beauty; it’s too bad it was wasted on a stupid holding call.

But something that would allow Carlton Thomas to make moves in space would deprive us of his abilities as a tough, between-the-tackles rusher!

As long as those pesky lines on the field don’t trip him up!

He is a touch between-the-tackles rusher because he is supposed to fit through those 3 inch gaps in the offensive line….hence the 190lbs. If he got any bigger then our o line would need to open bigger holes.

how much more ‘outnumbered’ does the run have to get before we start calling the screens?

Careful…now Bobo will call nothing but screens like he did vs. the lamecocks in ’07.

Methinks Bobo knows how to call him some screens.

Where’s old Jimmy D’s tunnel screens when we need them?

One of the Marks “talked about Georgia still wanting to run the ball and keep the play-action passing game that hasn’t had much success so far this season,”
i asked my imaginary friend, some super-hot non-blonde Texas chick who knows something about football going wrong, what she thought about our punishing running game and magnificent play-actions and she mimed the following to me

Hey Coach don’t look now but everybody and his brother have and will stack the box against us. It works and unlike Bobo the opposing DC’s keep doing what is working.

Who the hell is running the program, CMR or Bobo? CMR talks as if he has no control over playcalling. What’s worse is that the stacking up front by D’s should have been anticipated before the season, and Murray should have practiced dumping the ball off more than anything else. The coaches are just going through the motions. They aren’t prepared and they aren’t disciplined.
