Dissmayed

Yeah, this is kind of a cheap shot (albeit an enjoyable one), but it’s not like Mark May doesn’t bring it on himself.

Oh God. That second link…I just…it’s so…why? Why do you do it, ESPN? Do you hate your audience THAT much?

Without even watching that, because I refuse to…

Florida Notre Dame Boise Florida Notre Dame Boise with a cup of Bama and a sprinkle of USC. That about right?

The predictions were the usual. Every year Lou or Mark pick Notre Dame to run the table. Boise State is downplayed. Ware went way out on a limb and predicted a home loss by Texas to Wyoming. Wow what a thrilling prediction.

The Code Blue segment was hard to watch. These guys have gone insane. The other thing that really bothers me is they are so transparent. The fact is that Boise State vs Big Name School does not produce ratings like Big Name School vs Big Name School. It’s all about the dollars which come from ratings.

I hope they get rid of Lou and Mark, but doubt it will happen anytime soon. I quit watching their show almost entirely after they hired Lou. Why can’t we get someone that doesn’t try to play a character?

ESPN is so bad. After building their brand they’ve spent the past decade demeaning it. They now hire producers, writers, etc. from Lifetime and E!.

Does anybody recall the Baseball Tonight bit from a few years back where Steve Phillips would conduct a “hypothetical” news conference as a GM for various clubs?

What about the short film about the dad from Southie who has a heart attack watching the Sox win the World Series?

There’s a reason they call them TV Weasels.

(Apologies to the Great Poobah of the World Wide Order of Weasels, you guys got a real PR problem.)

Cut to Dr. Lou standing over a pot of boiling pasta:

Dr. Lou: “Double double, toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble….who’s the goofiest mutha in the land?”

    Cut to Viagra commercial.

I quit watching these tools and the football enjoyment has gone way up. It’s been 3 years since I’ve seen a pre- or postgame show. Just give me the games. Who cares what these clowns think?

For years I’ve turned down the sound on the TV, put on some music and followed the many great liveblogs and twitter instead of listening to any of the TV drivel. Makes for a truly enjoyable Saturday (or Thursday night). You should try it.

Sorry, I thought it was pretty funny. But agreed that Lou Holtz is the biggest tool on tv today. Remember when he picked the Irish to win the MNC year befor last? He and Granny Clampett were seperated at birth.

I agree with you, Spike. I hardly ever watch these guys, and Lou is just annoying, but I thought this was pretty durn funny.

      Agree on Trev.

Though I must admit, I like to watch Granny Lou. Once you get past taking him seriously, he’s pretty entertaining. At least he’s having fun.

      Mark May is just so……..angry.

I gave up on Mark May the second he picked Hawaii to beat us in the Sugar Bowl. The guy is a complete joke.

I am not exactly sure where it comes from but Mark May is one of the ESPN guys (along with Holtz and Jesse Palmer plus others) that is biased against UGA. I think May played in the ’76 Sugar Bowl where Pitt won the MNC by beating UGA. Maybe something happened in that game but man, that was 34 years ago–get over it.

Just ran across the entire cast of idiots on the CFB pre-game.

May’s rocking the plaid and paisley.

May said Boise hasn’t played anybody, and Holtz shivved him with, “And who did you play at Pittsburgh? Temple?”

Yep, the Pitt team of that era didn’t earn any victories. They only had players like Marino, Dorsett, Hugh Green, Ricky Jackson, Fralic, etc. Even with all his cheating Holtz couldn’t recruit players like those.

Are you referencing an era, or when May was there?

Dorsett predates Mayday, but all those other guys were there at some point while he was there.

Hugh Green in particular was a bad, bad, man. At the collegiate level, he was Ray Lewis on the Ravens bad. I always hated Pitt, but you had to respect the boatload of players Johnny Majors started pulling in (and then, the Prince of Freaking Darkness, Jackie Sherill, ran with after Majors left).

Hugh wasnt better than Herschel, though. Neither was anyone else before or since, though Dorsett, much as I hate him to this day, is the only college RB I ever saw who deserves to be in the discussion.

Simple explanation:when you have peckerheads who know nothing about sports watching ESPN,you have to have peckerheads explain sports to them.
