To dream the improbable dream

You tell me which is weirder, Georgia opening as a three-point favorite over Florida, or Chris Low projecting the Dawgs to play in a New Year’s Day bowl game.

Anybody who claims they saw either coming after the Colorado game is a damned liar.

I guess this must mean Georgia would be favored by 6 or 7 points on a neutral field?

I for one am still shellshocked from previous GA/Fla match-ups. I still get the feeling we come in overconfident and get our asses beat. If we don’t get them this year we’re never going to get them.

I completely saw this coming. This team was destined to go on this run. By the way, have you met my wife…uh…Morgan Fairchild. Yeah…Morgan Fairchild.

I cautiously hoped for this run when Richt announced changes the Monday after the loss, but yeah, I was fully prepared for a 5-7 season.

On a completely unrelated note, now that Texas has given up 200+ rushing yards to its second crappy opponent this season, will the Muschamp love die down some?

I did figue we’d still win 2 of 4 against UF, Aub, GT & UT, and I was hoping for 3 of 4.

I still believe we only get 2 of those, 3 wouldn’t be that much of a surprise, but against Auburn…don’t see it, but injuries do happen.

I think they could win a shootout with Auburn, but so far Georgia hasn’t shown the ability to win a tight ballgame.

Three point favorite over Florida: credible in context.

New Year’s Day Bowl: (a) which one?, and (b) Nah, see next post down column.

It’s hard to see Florida losing four in a row under any circumstances

I’m certainly hoping for a win in J-ville, but…I can’t even believe I’m about to type this because, as an original south georgia boy, this is the biggest week of the year for me…I hate the gaturds, anyways…I hope we don’t humiliate them and their O actually has enough signs of life that they get on a role and can take out sos & cocky at their place Nov. 13. I don’t see SC beating Arky, and that gives us the ATL baby, even if we lose to Auburn.

We have to win them all. We already have 4 losses.

Colorado doesn’t play in the SEC.

No we don’t. If Dogs beat Gators and Gamecocks lose 2 of 3 to Vols, Gators, and Razorbacks then Georgia can still lose to Auburn and win the SEC East as long as Florida also beats Vandy. UGA, UF, and SC would be tied at 4-4 in the SEC. SC would be eliminated with the worst record against SEC East teams and then UGA would win tie breaker over UF with head to head win.

Actually, we only have to beat UF, and have the rest of the East inflict 4 league losses upon each other.

Then losses to Colo., Tek, Idaho St. nor Auburn will keep us from playing in Atlanta.

I would love to see the Dawgs back into the game in ATL. Especially after this season’s start. But assuming it comes down to the UF/SC game (still a big assumption), I don’t know if I can root for UF over SC. I might just enjoy watching the wreckage a fifth loss would cause the program, with FSU still to play. Good thing I don’t have to choose the winner. Ideally, UT and Arky can beat SC, so if SC stomps UF, we can still go to ATL.

I would have said the same thing about Georgia earlier this season. And as I said about the Dawgs after the first three of those losses: this team just does not look very good.

However, I also told my wife the morning of the UGA-UT game that at some point Georgia was going to put it all together and explode all over somebody. The same might be true of Florida; I just hope they wait until November.

They did sort of explode all over Kentucky and immediately went back to sucking offensively. I don’t think they have the skill players or O-Line to be a great offense, but if Demps is 100% they’ll be a lot more dangerous than they’ve been the last couple games. I still don’t see them getting over 21 without turnovers. The question is whether or not Georgia will choke offensively and let that be enough.

As much as I hate to say it, Mark Bradley *did* write a column calling for us to win out after the CU game.

But I’ll also point out that he called for us to win out after the Arkansas and Mississippi State games, also.

So….I can now officially worry about Florida now?

    Wurra, wurra, wurra.

The old lady washed my shirt after Vandy, I think that’s the reason we dozed off in the second half,
I have it hidden well…but should it be washed again?

    Oh the pressure!!!!
    Decisions, decisions…..

The key to this game is our offense. Since CMR took over we’ve scored over 30 twice in this game and won them both. We haven’t gotten to 20 in the 7 losses.

Odd to say it about a RS freshman, but I don’t know if I’ve been more confident about the QB position going into this game in the CMR era. You just know that if the backs and OL do their job that he’ll make plays and if they don’t he’s still not going to be the reason we aren’t successful.

Its been a long time (1985) since we really took this team to the woodshed. I don’t want to call for that, but I feel pretty good about our chances.

6-6 is all we’ve got in the tank. UF with a week off will be ready and we of late never seem to be ready. I hope we keep it close but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Auburn on the other hand will kill us. Our ADD DB’s will be biting on any fake that is offered. CTG and coach Lat??? have to be checking these guys transcripts to see how they got into college. We need to recruit some DB’s with at least a body temperature IQ. It really is painful to watch 3rd and Willie.

They were “ready” last year. They just got thumped by a far better team. And they were certainly “ready” in ’07, so it would be truer to say Georgia hasn’t been “ready” in one of the last three years. Meanwhile, Meyer finds himself in unprecedented territory, and coming off an unusual offseason, who knows how he’ll respond? It seems as likely that Florida will look as crappy as they have all season offensively as it is they’ll improve.

And is it really necessary to call Georgia players stupid?

Yep, you guys have no shot at Auburn. Just look at how they blew us out of the water and you guys beat us at the last second. Oh wait…
