Tuesday morning buffet

Haven’t laid out the goodies for y’all in a while, so here goes:

  • Thanks for reminding us, Seth.
  • At least Joe Posnanski managed to work in a Larry Munson reference in his fine piece about the game that cost Dan Hawkins his job.
  • The real message I get from this is that John Brantley’s round peg is a poor fit for Urban Meyer’s offense’s square hole, but nobody wants to come out and admit that.
  • Georgia Tech has now dropped Auburn from its future schedule.
  • Interestingly, in all-time SEC passing yardage by freshmen, three of the top five are Bulldogs.
  • Buck Belue shares a good story about Eddie “Meat Cleaver” Weaver.
  • I don’t know if this is a reflection on the kind of year it’s been in Athens, but Demarcus Dobbs defends himself against Carl Johnson’s accusation that Florida’s hurry-up offense wore Dobbs out by referring to his “rap sheet”.  Better choice of words next time, dude.

I don’t guess the Georgia win was impressive enough to save Hawkins.

  2. You know, Dobbs’ reference to his “rap sheet” caught my eye as well. I wonder if it was a mistranslation of “rep sheet”?

I don’t know for sure, but given the two schools’ scheduling proclivities recently, I think it’s more likely the War Chickens decided to bail on losing to Georgia Tech again.

After all, they lost to Chan Gailey.

      Twice.

Murray has 18 touchdowns right now which gives him a decent shot at tying or passing the all-time UGA record for touchdowns in a season. Stafford had 25 touchdowns in his final season.

Florida’s “hurry up” offense wasn’t a problem at all from my perspective. They scored exactly 10 points in the second half, so it wasn’t like they were lighting it up. Plus, our offense had numerous long drives the second half. If anyone was sucking wind, it was the Florida defense.

Now, whether or not we’re strong enough, that’s open for debate, but our conditioning doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Oh, and great story about the Meat Cleaver. I remember us beating up Ole Miss pretty handily.

  7. Murray has a great chance of moving up to #3, passing Quincy Carter. That would make Bobo the QB coach of 2 of the top 3 Fr.QBs. Just an observation.
