Looks like they have installed hockey / arenaball boards in front of the brick wall.
When I was a kid, they had only the brick wall at the back of the end zone. Of course, the Bears didn’t make it to the end zone very often in those days so it wasn’t a big deal.
Also, the corners of the the end zone in Baltimore used to be asphalt.

Dear God… those are bricks, people. I thought freaking Northwestern was supposed to be smarter than the rest of us. If I’m a wide receiver, I’m running every route towards the open Under Amour door. If it gets intercepted because I’m not in the right place, so be it.

i played a game at old marietta HS field one time
one of their end zones was like that
i was a db covering a guy who knocked himself stupid running into that wall

It was weird that the Wrigley ivy was green this time of the year:
“They’ve put up pads with fake ivy printed on them so that any players running through the end zone won’t crash into a brick wall.”
