Sure, I can see that.

Shorter (Georgia Tech fan) Michael Goldfeder:  Boise State’s 2007 Fiesta Bowl win is proof that Paul Johnson is a recruiting genius.

I wonder if Boise ever played a AQ team in the regular season?

    Probably not.

Great clips. It was nice to see us throwing deep up 38-7. We were a better team and we knew it. We just imposed our will on Boise that day, much different than the FG in Memphis. I hope we get more of the bully mentality this offseasn.

Man, DJ was so much fun to watch. I had forgotten how effortless he could make it look slinging it down the field.

Remember the previous off season, when everyone was completely down on him and doom’n’gloom? I remember being so tired of arguing for him by the first game that I almost didn’t go (my friends are merciless when it comes to almost losing to Tech). Still glad to this day I did.

This clip shows what can happen when an O-line actually blocks.

Was that us scoring on a, gasp, wheel route? Or a 2 TE set with one TE going out to create mismatches? Oh my!

    • Every time I watch this, I am amazed by how we used to play with a hunger and ferocity that has been lacking the last 4 seasons. I hope we can get it back.

  4. In his three years on the Flats, Johnson is 26-14, just a game and a half ahead of Mark Richt’s record during that same time period. Yet the Atlanta media continues to look for ways to hail Johnson as a genius while Richt is basically treated like a washout.

Not that Richt’s last three seasons haven’t been immensely disappointing, but there must be a hell of a lot of meaning in that game and a half to account for that discrepancy.

Included in that comparison is what looks on paper like 2-1 head-to-head in Richt’s favor. But as we all know, Johnson’s actually undefeated at Georgia. His having coached his guys into a position to win at the end of both the 2009 and 2010 games demonstrates his superior genius and renders those final scores irrelevant.

I could have sworn that memo had been circulated.

Ectually….much as it pains me to agree with any Tech fan about anything, this is pretty well said: “While I too enjoy reading about college football year round, I do think that these sites have trivialized a very difficult process of evaluating high school players in an effort to replace the traditional methods of old fashioned recruitment by coaching staffs who have been doing this for quite some time before these organizations ever launched their foolproof and mystical ”stars” based method of recruiting. ”

As to the upcoming apology for Paul Johnson’s recruiting efforts….well.

Senator you are to be complimented for allowing this blog to flourish as a beacon of liberal democracy by including the pointless observations of the spawn of ignorant white trash to snuggle up to the drivel of gay Florida fans and now….of all heresy….reasonably literate, if misguided, Tech fans.

I’d say this speaks better of you than Paul Johnson.

Doug, let’s not forget that Johnson is a game and half better that Richt by playing in the ACC, an inarguably weaker conference than the one Georgia plays in. Put Tech in the SEC and they’re no better than .500 the last 3 years.

Paul Johnson can divide by zero, count to infinity, and start fire by rubbing two ice cubes together.

He once ate a Bruce Lee movie and pissed on a GI Joe action figure. The result was Chuck Norris.

My Gawd. Was this Techie getting paid by the run-on sentence? I agree with some of what he was saying, but you can tell he is only trying to justify Coach Big Tits’ recruiting failure.

What failure? Johnson landed all the two stars he needed! He even landed on of the Ga top fifty. The man is a recruiting machine.

I love this quote from the article:

“They even offer a grade on how the coaching staffs did in their yearly recruitment of high school players”.

Oh may I, please may I…. Richt A+, Johnson F

I’m no statistician, but I’m pretty sure using outliers and anecdotal evidence isn’t the best way to predict the success or failure of your shitty recruiting class.
