The Red and Black is reporting that Aaron Murray broke his ankle in two places. (The school has yet to confirm the injury, it should be noted.)
Can you say snakebit? I thought you could.
*********************************************************************
UPDATE: Weiszer says there’s something going on.
*********************************************************************
UPDATE #2: Seth Emerson says it’s not likely to be as serious as the Red and Black makes it sound. How surprising.
*********************************************************************
UPDATE #3: It’s an ankle sprain, which is just like an ankle broken in two places, if, you know, his ankle were broken in two places. Score another Pulitzer for Zach Dillard.
Murray isn’t expected to miss any of spring practice.
Nothing is easy…

Various “sources” are reporting no break, but a sprain

Rumorboardvent says he hurt it playing soccer. If that’s the case, Aaron, it’s time to put the soccer career on hold.

Seth said his sources said it was his foot not his ankle. Not to panic this is the same kid that came back from a broken leg to lead his HS team to the State Championship. He is one tough kid.

THAT’S what we’ve been missing! We forgot to break his leg last season so he could come back and lead us to the SECC!!

It’s a failure of coaching.

It’s a failure of coaches…to kneecap the kid while he’s coming around a corner.
Finished your sentence for you.

Let’s not forget Ryan Mallett missed all of spring practice last year due to a broken foot, too, and it didn’t seem to affect the Razorbacks all that much.

Dean Legge, head mod on Dawg Post, is saying it isn’t serious

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
I can’t help but assume the worst, though I am hoping its minor.
And even if he hurt it playing soccer, you can’t blame the kid. He deserves to have a life, and doing something athletic in one’s spare time is generally a good thing.

They should be careful planning a redshirt year of Lemay with this.

“Team sources say that Murray broke the ankle [or whatever] participating in an activity with teammates and friends on Saturday afternoon.”

If he hurt it on Saturday and isn’t getting it checked-out until today, I read two possible things into that:
– it wasn’t immediately examined thoroughly so, it can’t be all that serious
– it was so swollen they had to give it two days for the swelling to subside
Of course, those two are slightly contradictory. All signs point me towards an ankle sprain. I’ve heard it is actually easier to recover from a broken ankle than a serious sprain. Anyone on here ever done both?

If so, let me make sure to never stand too close to you, because you’re clearly cursed.

There’s no reason I can think of to wait two days for a simple xray. Most likely they had the xray showing no fracture and are awaiting an MRI to look at soft tissue damage.

What is this blog comming to?
Something bad happens and no one says fire Richt for it??????
But really, this F’in blows.
On the upside this will help to get Lemay some extra reps…on the down side Murray while good still has many “WTF was that” moments…thus he needed this spring to fine tune.

Gruden would never let this happen.

That Dillard character has to be related to Joe Schad.

Nah, Joe Schad just takes other people’s (occasionally accurate) reports and regurgitates them. Dillard seems more likely to be related to Chicken Little. Or Pinocchio.

Right on… I don’t know either of them (obviously), but your comparisons make sense to me. I would say that “The Schatman” frustrates me on a consistent basis though, whether that be through regurgitation or “his proprietary sources”. The dude seems to be about as consistent as a weatherman. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t like having my time being monetized for a big pile of BS.

The very first thing that popped into my head when I heard the report earlier today was – “Red and Black? Probably a scratch on his toe getting blown out of proportion.”
