You missed the best part of the McGarity article. We are getting a HD big screen in Sanford Stadium! It will be almost twice as big as the old screen which was installed in 2005. It should be ready by the SC home game. I personally like to see us upgrading facilities on a continual basis and I think the way UGA is investing in technology is pretty awesome.

Sure, that’s some hard time punishment but it’s nothing compared to this. TCU’s making the three amigos who came up with this one:

The PS list only raises three questions for me: 1) how did a school like auburn attract a lineman from Arizona? Very suspicious. 2) TN got a top receiver from Michigan, wow. Wonder what he sees that everyone else is missing? 3) A DL from Monroe chose Notre Dame? There must a story there, or ND is lying about only taking smart kids.
I am pleased UGA has a good showing on this list, and in everyone’s “rankings”, but I always wait until they are actually making contributions on the field in CFB to see who did well. Dawgs always seem to do that pretty well, so I like the way we have evaluated and signed talent. Character?….not so much. I hope we have enough team leaders on board to set a better example to the incoming class.

I don’t see a “one state over” signing being unusual at all, and I think UGA is a more logical choice than either UT and The aU for a long distance recruit. Stafford had ties to UGA with his sister, and CMR is highly regarded as a positive influence on QBs, especially those who wnt to play in a pro-style offense. UT has been in chaos for a few years, and The aU will face sanctions in the near future, or the NCAA has to withdraw from being the ruling organization. They cannot realistically enforce rules while completely whiffing on a highly publicized case like Cammy and other questions floating that around Auburn, AL….particularly coming so close on the heels to USC’s punishment. So yeah, UGA is a more attractive location, but so is FSU, Bama, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, etc., for those long distance signees. Odd they would grab those guys to me. Arizona to The Plains? Guy must have been smoking some loco weed (or had a meeting with the Bag Man.)

In the last three UGA signing classes, there are 5 recruits from various stats other than Georgia or a state right next to Georgia.
These recurits came from; Mississippi, California, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Indiana

I know. I didn’t say there weren’t schools who might attract players from further away, just surprised TN and The aU might fall into that camp.

I think Tennessee has had to rely on talent from other states for quite a while. The state of Tennessee does not boast a lot of home grown talent.
That UT attracts recruits from afar does not surprise me at all

I agree they have always had to rely on other states, and have a history of drawing from all over (hence the number of games played with opponents from Western states). I am just stating it would seem more difficult given the state of their program in the last decade. Missing bowls, turnover at HC, NCAA investigations pending, no SEC titles, major bowls, etc.

LeMay’s ranking always amuses me because he didn’t play his senior year. To be ranked 4th to all the others who did play one year more says a lot. I consider that he is the best in the nation just from his junior year. I also was under the impression that he trained hard that entire senior year. Hitting the S&C hard now and leading endears him to Dawg Nation even more. I’m telling you, boys, he is a ringer to take all ringers.
